Seatbelts don't bother me in the least. Most serious car accident I've been in probably would've only given me a broken nose from hitting my face on the seat in front of me if I wasn't wearing a seatbelt.

As for whether or not other people wear their seatbelts, well... For one, around here it's illegal to not wear one, and as far as I know, the driver will be ticketed if one of his passengers isn't wearing a seatbelt. I'd rather not be responsible for someone's death, but if they don't want to wear a seatbelt, then it's their issue. I'm an unsympathetic bastard who doesn't feel sorry when someone gets what they deserve for doing something stupid.
Its illegal in Italy to but you know how Italy is..the police does the job 50% of the time.
But the thing is the cars now days have that alarm noise thing that goes off when you don't wear one and i don't know how people cannot notice it.
nissan doesnt........thank god.  i hate the beeping nazi.
I went from a Volvo S40 that would beep if put something in the passenger seat. To a G35 that doesn't give a shit lol.

The volvo beep wouldn't give up after three times. It starts as a slow beep and get continually faster as you traveled farther.

Regardless, I always wear my seat belt in a vehicle. Even a five point harness, when I eventually strip out the G35 for track use.

I always wear a seatbelt, but if others don't I don't care either. If someone else doesn't want to wear theirs, that's their business. That said, I always have the seatbelt reminder disabled in cars. Who do the manufacturers think they are to tell me what to do?

It's already pissing me off to no end that when I start the engine a little message pops up in the spedometer that informs me that no rear seat belts are engaged. No shit, I'm alone in the car.

Whenever I get into the car I seem to spend an eternity pressing buttons. Get in, turn key, start driving. Message pops up: "no rear seatbelt engaged". Press OK to get rid of that message. Hit the sport button. Hit the "M" button to manually control the gearbox. Press up to get the digital speedometer. Turn off the navigation screen. Why can't the car remember my settings from the last time? Fucking merc

Any number of reasons:

1) A pathological distaste for them developed by parental nagging.
2) They're used to them not working properly and choking them out.
3) Because, like with bike helmets, they think it makes them look uncool.
4) Like 1), but this time as a manifest desire to reject government regulation of their personal lives.

Ultimately, I'm not taking people anywhere unless they put the damn thing on. It's my ticket, not theirs.

If the passenger is over the age of 18 then the passenger gets the ticket not the driver.

I always wear a seat belt since I don't want to risk a ticket, though the police seem to not give a fuck in most places.

You mean a hole in their windscreen the size of their body? I agree...

So I guess this pretty much reveals I wear my seatbelt 24/7. It doesn't bother me at all and it's a reflex - a good reflex.

I waer my seatbelt and I make sure my passengers do too!

I mean come on, it's not like you're in the car 24/7 and is it worth driving without a seatbelt for a fine of xxx dollars/euros than having one on. Wear the thing, it's not a prop.

Hm, so you're right, even in WA state (except it's 16 and up). Still, I'm sure I remember hearing it go the other way around. Sure it wasn't changed a few years ago?

if it affects other people yes.  a seatbelt only affects the individual, so idc about that.  some cunt yapping on his phone or dicking around with the gps concerns me.
Not wearing a seatbelt affects everyone in traffic when wearing one would have prevented serious injury or death. Don't make me wait for hours stuck in traffic because you had to skip the seatbelt and die, turning a tow-to-the-side-of-the-road accident into an emergency vehicle convention.

It isn't a matter of what you do in your car. It's a matter of what you do in your car on public roads.

It's funny the way you put it, but I agree.

I nearly got into an accident on the freeway because some retard switched lanes from the exit into the middle lane without looking. That kind of retarded shit needs to be reeducated.

i can say the same for food, coffee, music, cell phones, gps, people, etc...

but ya a seatbelt will most likely cause a traffic jam accident versus that stuff.

Not really since it isn't the states job to legislate my safety. Every decision I make, whether it be crossing a busy road or taking a more dangerous country road route is my decision and I don't factor in the burden on the nhs. The same goes for seatbelts, its a small risk I'm often willing to take and I don't see how its anyones business other than my immediate family.

If your injury or death from not wearing a safety belt results in disability which in turn gets you any state's financial assistance then I feel it is a concern of the state.
