That's impressively well done, but I don't really get what took him so long.
EDIT: Also, at the end of the day, he now looks like a gay C-3PO. Doesn't seem worth the effort even if it hadn't taken 17 months.

Gooners is needed in this thread.
You guys seen the video of the twin chicks in sport bras and panties with boxes on their heads and dancing like robots.
The song they play to is D.P.
D.P. was in one of the Adidas commerical for the World Cup.

1990 they peaked in popularity, apparently, but I started listening around the time when their album Discovery came out, in 2001.

I just found it a bit weird he hadn't even heard of them, it's like saying you'd never heard of, I dunno, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Beatles (I'm going to get murdered for this).m3thod wrote:

yeah there not even on the same level as the popularity of those bands.
Its a cultural thing. I'm sure americans here could name rappers, rock stars and country and western artists that are massivley popular in their country that you've never heard of.

Ahh come on, it is not just band. I would say they are the ones started house music. Not only that, but the way they are:m3thod wrote:

They grabbed my attention with their video "Da Funk" in 95/96. I think me and marine are around the same age.Daft Trax.[1][6] Bangalter spoke of the duo's decision to sign with Virgin:
Many record companies offered us deals. They came from everywhere, but we decided to wait--partly because we didn't want to lose control of what we had created. We turned down many record companies. We weren't interested in the money, so we turned down labels that were looking for more control than we were willing to give up. In reality, we're more like partners with Virgin.[11]
...
We don't believe in the star system. We want the focus to be on the music. If we have to create an image, it must be an artificial image. That combination hides our physicality and also shows our view of the star system. It is not a compromise.[38]
We're trying to separate the private side and the public side. It's just that we're a little bit embarrassed by the whole thing. We don't want to play this star system thing. We don't want to get recognised in the streets. Yes. Everyone has accepted us using masks in photos so far, which makes us happy. Maybe sometimes people are a little bit disappointed but that's the only way we want to do it. We think the music is the most personal thing we can give. The rest is just about people taking themselves seriously, which is all very boring sometimes.[9]
I think it is funny :p

house music originated in chicago.

edit:
Daft Punk especially helped to further the genre in many ways, so much so that they redefined how it was performed. Before they appeared, most types of electronic music (especially all House and other EDM) were performed by a DJ. The songs would be created in the studio, pressed to vinyl, and played on a massive sound system. However, during their debut Homework tour, Daft Punk instead opted to bring their entire studio and perform every one of their songs live, on 100% vintage analog gear. To this day, they still utilize some of the instruments and hardware they were performing with on that tour.
