I'll put my hat in the ring for something like this.

Having a "fair" compitition is going to be tough though due to the variety of settings people have, ranges they are comfortable at, rifle selection, and inevitable ping conflicts.

I just went and played with CitizenTwo for a bit. She's actually pretty good and a decent pilot, but her ego gets in her way . I haven't seen her play as a sniper though. However I maintain that any good sniper should at least have a 2.0 K/D ratio with the sniper kit.

I think someone here should differentiate between the two types of snipers:
- Passive Sniper (Stays in the back and snipes, has excellent KDR, low Teamwork). Usually ends up with very little deaths due to the hidden nature of their position.
- Aggressive Sniper (Stays in the front and snipes, has good KDR, high Teamwork). Usually ends up with a higher than Assault/Support number of kills but higher amount of deaths due to being in the front line.

I on one hand, belong in the latter group (For information sake, I HAVE tried passive sniping but I got bored too quickly).

I would love to participate in a "Sniper Competition"! To be fair, I beleive that claymores should be omitted from such a competition.

I cannot comment on other people's skills as a sniper because I beleive that I have yet to play against or along side any of you fellow snipers. I'm not gonna toot my own horn like some people because I know that I'm an average sniper, but I would love to play against some of these braggarts to see how good they really are.

Also, how in the world do you get a K/D ratio above 4?!! Congrats to anyone who can get above a K/D ratio above 2 (I try but it's pretty tough since many of my shots appear to hit an enemy but do not register as a hit. Maybe I need a steadier hand on my mouse?)

Anyways, keep sniping and have fun. Maybe I'll see some of ya's. I usually play in the LaCatina server.

Guys, we need to find a server. Decide whether we want ranked or unranked and set rules. Such as only sniper kits or semi auto weapons (but that would be cheap) a couple rounds to decide who the ultimate sniper in BF2s is instead of onslaught of edited videos. Besides, I need a break from Resident Evil 4

Also, do we want to restrict sniper rifles? Such as vanilla ones only or M95s only.

where do you live? seems like most of you guys are frm N. america, in which case pings wont be too nice for me

If you really are going to do this.....I think the selection of rifles is moot. The sniper should be allowed to use whatever rifle they are comfortable using and which they have mostly acquired their stats with. Also, to make this a "real"... well more realistic competition, you should have a few trials. Distance, accuracy and combat skill perhaps.

The first would be non moving targets (willing "human" targets) at varying distances up to let's say 450m or so. Penalties for non-headshot hits and time.

Accuracy could be whether the hit was a head shot or body shot; location could be thrown in as a variable (rooftop vs. ground level vs. side of a hill).

And combat skill would be a round where only snipers are allowed. Must capture flags (no campers) and have the full use of their personal assets (claymores, grenades, etc.) but NO armour (disqualification). Snipers with the most team points and the most combat points have a shoot off. This will also help prove which type of sniper is more effective, passive or aggresive. If the person with the most team and combat points is one person then we have our winner....

ok then, lets just allow anybody from this forum to join into the competition. since its a snipers-only thing, its best that we keep it unranked (ranked would be against the ROE i believe). what maps? id say:

I'll be there, bad ping or no bad ping, I'm considering downing the rifle and returning to good old medic whoring, but I guess someone has to be the stationary target

That's why your K/D ratio with the sniper rifle is so bad,the deaths present how many times you have been killed with the sniper rifle in hands,not by a sniper rifle.

And I wouldn't say that the "passive" sniper doesn't teamwork,if you defend flags with claymores and your rifle you are supporting the team really well,just one sniper can stop a whole squad from capping a flag,at least slow them down till reinforcements arrive.
I would put myself in the former category of yours although on some maps I'm a bit of both,on Mashtuur I stay in one spot but because it's a high traffic area I've got to shoot very aggressively all the time,I just don't run around unless I need a medic or ammo.

I will join if its on Ghost Town or Warlord, but you can forget playing the Normal maps like Karkand, I would end up just getting in a tank and driving into the sea because i'm so bored.
