The more popular ones are from Discovery, but if you don't like one you're highly doubtful to like any.

Try "Aerodynamic", "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger" or "Digital Love".

But like I said they don't sway far from their genre.

Lol you're both too old. Get a clue, Daft Punk are only one of the most renowned electronic/house bands, like, ever.
they play electro tbh... fuck knows why wiki says 'house'.

they created a whole sound of parisian electronic music and have influenced pretty much every club-scene in some way.

god knows how some people haven't heard of daft punk. seems crazy to me.

seeing you guys talk about them reminds me of cave-man scenes or some shit. you're really out of touch!

edit although now i think about it their old stuff like rollin n scratchin and da funk are electro-house... pretty upbeat. so many memories!

Some people don't follow trends in electronic music and so forth. You sound similar to myself when I mention Buddy Holly and people only know of the Weezer song.

it's hardly an underground-scene with daft punk... their music is heard and used everywhere.

Maybe I've heard more but not realized it. I do recall that the "Harder Faster Stronger Better" song was on some commercial if I'm not mistaken. I'm sure they're fairly popular, but I myself don't really pursue staying current with the music scene these days.

if "these days" = electronic music 10+ years ago then okay...

I wish there was some way I could type out the riff to Da Funk. Because that's what's going through my head right now.

I mean shit, I remember hearing Daft Punk in 6th grade, and it wasn't half-bad. And I hate to sound like an elitist hipster cool guy, but their massive popularity is annoying and degrading. I'm really sick of them and haven't listened to much of their stuff in a longass time. It's also infuriating because the public now thinks that electronic music consists of entirely Daft Punk or DP knockoffs. [not directed at anyone in this thread; just ranting]

Doesn't really sound like Daft Punk at all ... just sounds like a film soundtrack I suppose . Can perhaps notice hints of their style in some of the clips, but yeah: It's rather different. Not necessarily a bad thing, it would be silly for them to produce electo-house "club bangers" or w/e for a film score.

Also, apparently they have a cameo appearance in the film (Tron Legacy) as DJs in a nightclub.

I might move this to Music - seeing as that's the direction to the conversation has gone towards.

Fin he's 30+ and americans as a nation don't really listen to electronic music like the europeans.  Not everyone is informed of insert name of ________ french electronic bands.
I just found it a bit weird he hadn't even heard of them, it's like saying you'd never heard of, I dunno, AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Beatles (I'm going to get murdered for this).
