Sharqi hotel stinger

The other day my clanm8 and i were flying the mec chopper on sharqi.

Our team had already taken the tv-station, so we were going to repair over there.

We got shot with the stinger from hotel ?? Wtf. Even a couple of times.

Is this possible ?

Also, this hotel stinger, locked on to us, as we JUST left the helipad on the mec chopper spawnpoint ??

I've never managed to do that with that stinger ... What do you guys think, what are your experiences with this ?

It will lock you up even after you lost the chooper threw the haze. However it cannot lock you up at the distances you are describing. To far.

Soooooo, no idea. Perhaps lag. Have not heard of the super uber long range stingers mod.

I tell you that stinger does what it wants! I have seen a chopper and it didn't lock on till the last second, of course I got TVed to hell for even setting in the stinger. Got off one missle and I am not sure it even hit. Then again when I am flying it seams like I can be on the other side of a hill and the damn thing will lock on.

If you are on the TV station helipad, the Hotel stinger, as well as the surveillence post and tv station stinger all have an easy shot on you. Thats why Havocs have to destroy all 3 main island stingers all the time, and while you are there kill all tows and transport. This is the key to success in the helo on this map. Pilot and gunner must systematically remove all threats to them before going after infantry amd armour. P.S. guess what map my 101 kill streak is on

Yea thats true sambuccashake, i know what u want to explain.

But thats not what i mean.
The hotel was under USA control, so there were enemies in that stinger, but the ranges he got with that stinger were really just out of control, we couldnt lift off with our chopper, or the lock would be there.

I dont think lag was the issue, our ping etc was very good, and it was a dutch server, so very close to us.

This stinger even locked our ass while we were hoovering on the backside of tv-station !?
I find this very very weird.

Seems like there really is another uber weapon in BF, like stealth said.
wtf

But after those couple of times we switched back to our strategic flying and nailed him several times. Felt good.

Agreed.. we do that all the time, but this was the first time we encountered something like this. Surprised us, but then again, we've learned from it.

iv sat in the stinger at hotel for the whole game an got over 30 kils just shootin down the chopper as it started to take off over the heli pad at tv station it can be done i donno why but it can reach heaps far

I've been shot at by the TV station stinger when I was hovering on the other side of the building raping the roof... Now that's interesting to say the least!

But yeah - it seems Sharqui-stingers has an abnormal range...

Are you SURE It was the stinger from the hotel? THe TV stationhas its own Stinger when US takes over.....

Yup i AM sure that it was the hotel stinger.

I was typing with the one who shot us down.
I called him a cheater, he called me a cheater back when i tv-ed him from the helipad.

the stingers are put in awkward places for heli`s to fly around, you can hardly move before you here the tone and you find yourself evading into a nearby building/crane

its crazy the distance it gets when flying away from the mec base!

i understand fully that sharqi is meant to be a good city map, with the helo's flying overhead as support only, meaning they are fully exposed when in the city. a good pilot will use the buildings as cover and the steep drop of the shore as natural defences against the stingers. however, if you are americans, you have a SERIOUS disadvantage if you want the chopper. i understand that the stinger right below you should hit you, but the stinger from the hotel too???? if you ask me, the mec have a HUGE advantage on this map. they have the better chopper (as far as exploding rounds go on an infanty heavy map), and their repair base is safely out of range of all the stingers in the city.....

a trick i learned is to hover just behind the tv station building, close enough to be repairing and whatnot, but below the top so that the tv station blocks the stinger from the hotel. takes some hovering skills, but keeps you alive.

If you can stinger from Survalance post iam sure you can from hotel aswell .If you have a beefy graphics card on high settings you can see all the way to the T.V station and lock on .Its one of the major piss off points of the game and has been moaned about for ages.Top of the line P.C players will have the advantage over everyone in the game .E.A and DICE need fucking for that one .

Hmm, I think if the operator launches it in that direction the missiles may lock-on mid-flight.

However if this is pre-1.2 then the missiles do whatever they feel like.
