hmm, I'll try my best. I spent 18 years in that damn city, unfortunately none of them when I was over 21.

Pyramid Alehouse, it's a nice place with good beer. Don't expect amazing food it's just bar food but what great is the location, directly across the street from Safeco field and Qwest field.
The Pike, pub food, good beer.

As far as NICE restaurants (spending a pretty penny and you should call ahead to make reservations). Ponti - good seafood (not downtown), McCormick and Schmicks - seafood (downtown), Metropolitan Grill - steakhouse (downtown), Wild Ginger - asian (Downtown)

Any ideas on where in the North Cascades or Olympic Natl park? Day hikes or backpacking? I've spent some time doing both in both locations.

Also in Vancouver theres this ice cream/gelato place that has 200 or so flavors. The classics like chocolate and vanilla but then you get weird shit they made like celery or black pepper or curry ice cream. Crazy shit. None are ever that good but its cool to go try cause they give unlimited free samples. I'll get back to you on the name if you're curious

Capa Alava - western most point in the US not including AK and HI. Cool boardwalk and beach but takes FOREVER to drive to. pics!
Sol duc falls - cool hike, stereotypical moss/fern/green Olympic Natl park scene. pics!

many more

I don't know a whole lot about about the North Cascades but you get more of a pine tree and mountain experience rather than moss/dark rainforest type. Steeper too but good views. I'm partial to the Hoh.

I hear Ross dam is popular

Anyway, can't you call your co-worker and pay them some money for the tix? Usually if someone is going out of town with season tix they offer them to a friend for a small fee. Just a thought

thanks again pirana!

the weekend i'll be there, the Seahawks are out of town - they are playing the Raiders in Oakland. he would've given me those, if they were playing in Seattle, because it's still pre-season. he flies into Seattle for all the home games during the season.

Oh christ im dumb. I thought you meant your co-worker was out of town and didn't want to give up the tix not the Hawks. Gotcha now.

Yeah there's a few people here from Seattle (including downy of course) so just let us know if you've got any more questions.

I could be wrong, but I think that building in the OP is the one that has been condemned for structural flaws. Again, if that's the building I think it is, it's only ten years old and built/occupied by the labor union who built it.

lulz.

btw, I'm going to be your tour guide (like you didn't already know that ). I think you'll enjoy your stay Mr Burnzz.

Labor Day, eh? You should check out Bumbershoot. Bob Dylan and Weezer are both playing...and those are just the headliners, there are tons of other bands too. Kick-ass festival. Link: http://bumbershoot.org/

McCormick & Schmick's is OK but the Metropolitan Grill is really where it's at downtown. For lunch they have an absolutely amazing french dip they serve. The place just oozes old-school style. If you head up to Queen Anne hill there's a place called Pasta Bella that's got fantastic Italian food at reasonable prices ($12-17 a plate). If you can you should also check out the Seattle Public Library; its an amazing building and a great example of very cool modern architecture.

Olympics hiking is like a couple days worth from of Seattle if you really want to enjoy it. Traffic is going to destroy you on I-5 if you make a one-day commute out of it. I'd recommend getting a room somewhere at Port Angeles or something (pulled that name out of my ass, from previous stays).

Port Angeles is pretty far away...you'd want to try and get a hotel in Seattle itself (if you can) or otherwise one of the surrounding suburbs should be just fine. The bus system around here is OK, if need be. If you can find something cheap in Bellevue there's a growing night life in the downtown of that city - you won't be bored there.

I'll have your itinerary ready for your approval and signature 2 weeks prior to arrival, sir. Peanut is writing up a rough draft as we speak.

Oh yeah, need to ask...Any chance you could rent a 4x4? Some of the best scenery is up where jesus lives around 7,000+ ft and a prius just won't cut it. There's a lot of gravel logging roads especially over on the Olympic Peninsula. For any hardcore stuff, we can take pile into my truck. But I'm thinking you won't want to miss the real nature stuff so maybe check into getting a Durango or some shit. That way we can pile into one car for the long trips and take both trucks for our camping trip. Oh yeah, we'll be camping one night in case I forgot to mention that. Hardcore camping... ask Donnie He liked it. Everyone gets a gun. Especially if they don't want one. Fire crackers, beers, guns, and our womenz. Good times ahead Burnzzy.

The reason I suggested it is because it's right by the Olympics, convenient and has tons of great seafood and bars (if you're into that). Driving up I-5 at the end of the day to one of the big cities will just ruin a vacation.
