Ok, so for a good while now, on my baby laptop I've had a really annoying error happen.

Every minute/few minutes/now and then, the process clamd.exe will crash and pop up an error reporting message.

Now, AFAIK, it's not making the laptop not work, just make it fucking annoying (For example, when watching a film and have a big, fuck-off error message appear every minute).

As you can see, it's pretty out of hand.

Google tells me it's an MS process, but it doesn't many people have issues with it crashing like me, just stealing CPU Process.

The logs in event viewer tell me:

msvcrt.dll is another Windows process, but Googling them both doesn't give me any clue as to my problem.

So anyone know of any steps to solutions, or just disabling the error reports for this particular process?

Reformat is out of the question, by the way.

Ran malwarebytes? In safe-mode?
Cleaned and/or fixed your registry?
Dumped your temp files?
Defragged?
Does it only happen when you are watching a movie? what program are you using?

Not a hard tech guy, but getting info for when they come.

No, I appreciate it.

I scanned with Avast and Spybotted the other day, no related problems showed up.

Haven't done a registry clean.

Dumped temp files when I scanned.

Haven't defragged ever (lol).

And it just happens at completely random times, AFAIK. I've not noticed any clear pattern. It stays on 24/7 and sometimes when I wake up, or come back from being out, I will have a fair few of error reports to ignore.

Will look into defragging and cleaning the register.

clamd.exe is part of the Clam AntiVirus, and its not a part of Windows.

Strange, I swear I read it was Windows.

I have no clue WTF clamAV is, either, no trace of it on my PC.

Well this is weirder.

Boot into safe mode, and remove the process from your hard drive, and then see if you still get the errors.

OR

Remove it from startup.

It's not in msconfig's startup processes, that's the first thing I checked.
