Since this keeps getting buried in open thread, I'll make my own.
I got a pair of KRK Rokit RP5G2s not too long ago, and need either a DAC or external audio card to use with them. Using a 3.5mm to RCA connector is functional, but whenever I use an AC adapter in my laptop, it screeches out terrible noise and there's really no way around that.
I have a pair of XLR cables so a DAC/Card with those connections are preferred.
First off, what's the difference? I've done a bit of searching but found nothing of substance. I'd only be using it for an audio-out to my monitors.
I'm not looking to spend a lot. < $100 would be ideal, even less would be great. Obviously needs to be self-powered.
