hello everyone I have a new build using these parts{ http://imgur.com/G7T3z.png }
Wired it all up and everything appears to be working when i press power however there is no display coming up on my monitor
The cooler master case did not come with front panel speaker wires so I cannot hear a "beep".. but the fans are turning and the mobo led lights are on

the card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460
the card has Two dual-link DVI-I connectors for me to plug le monitor in as well as mini HDMI

the monitor: samsung 225bw: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6824001083
My monitor has a DVI cord with a DVI-D Single-Link ending on it(plugged into the card's dual-link DVI-I connecter. respose: no display)

Tried an lcd tv to test the HDMI port(using the provided mini hdmi to hdmi cord) and response is "no signal"
Tried an older monitor using the provided DVI to VGA adapter response negative

"parts required for the GeForce GTX 460: Two 6-pin PCI Express supplementary power connectors"
-   I plugged these in directly from the power supply using the two 6 pin pci e connecters. However, included with the box was Two 6-pin PCIe to Molex power adapters which i tried at first but what is the point if you already have 2X6pin PCI express power connecters?? The molex power adaptor has 3 prongs instead of four(weirdness).

lost i bee

Happen to have a spare graphics card anywhere that you can use to see if it's the graphics card causing the problem?

Does the fan spin on the graphics card?
i can try the one off of this pc - a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT

Yes it spins

If swapping the video card yields no success, pull out all of your RAM, and populate only the DDR3_1 slot, then start your computer. Go through every one of your sticks like that until you either get display or run out of sticks.

make sure the video card is fully seated kimmmmm.  Make sure you push that bitch down till it clicks.

Since you are still at the build stage:

- use DVI or VGA connections.
- make sure nothing HDMI is connected, even on your monitor.
- Toggle your monitor display to VGA or DVI.

HDMI doesn't play well before everything is installed and running.

fiddle with monitor settings, sometimes it's the auto-tune thing not picking up the input
video cards swapped.. the 8800 spins -no display

ok, will try this next with the new card
tried testing mikkel's sticks test:with 1 stick, then 2. yielded same no display results

the 3 memory sticks are using DDR3_1, DDR3_3, DDR3_5

That 3 pin molex is probably for fans since they don't need that much voltage to operate.
tried resetting bios?

do i need to buy a DVI-D Single-Link to dual DV-I adaptor?
or use a monitor that uses a dual link DVI-I cord?
seems like single into dual would be ok, this monitor isnt that old.. hrmph

Just to make sure, you've connected the cable with the 8-pin EPS connector to the top left of your motherboard, right?

The audio alerts would really be useful. You're saying that no front-panel audio cable came with the case? It should be there. It would look pretty much precisely like the front-panel USB connectors, though it would likely be labeled "AC'97."

Most problems can be solved with the proper application of violence. It's likely that none of the memory was seated completely. Some motherboard manufacturers make those things tighter than 6-year-olds.

By front-panel connector, I don't mean the small two-pin individual wires for the power/reset button and HDD activity, but rather the ones that look like the cable on the right in this picture:

ok that is for the card, I thought its only one 3 pin molex. Yes the two molex cords have only three pins each to produce certain voltage-exact voltage your GFX card requires so connecting both should be just fine.

.sup i am powering the gfx card with the 2 6pci instead of using the xtra connecters that i pointed out in the picture.. less mess. is that okay? both ways work.

ah i see. there is a cord plugged in that spot leading to the top of the case.. puled it out and it's the AC'97

Well, we figured out that it's a RAM seating problem. If you can seat the rest of your RAM firmly and get display, then you shouldn't need the front-panel audio. If you still want to connect it, though, your motherboard manual will show you where to do so.

I get karmaz for hinting at shit not beign seated right.  Its a common new builder mistake.  shit needs to CLICK.
