I know enough about computers but f all when it come to audio. I need some help. Basically, my sound is completey screwed, I'll post specs and then outline the problem(s)
AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 5200+, 4.0GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
Creative SB X-Fi (SB0770)
5.1 Surround Sound
Windows Vista 64-bit
My audio has never worked properly, I have the four jacks on the sound card for my surround sound, speakers work fine. I also have two jacks on the front of my case, for my headphones (w/ mic), creative won't pick up these jacks however sound does play through the headphones but the mic won't work.
And then I made it worse..
I recently updated the drivers for Creative as it kept telling me on start up I needed to reinstall SoundMAX, hoping this would resolve the issue becuase I couldn't find out how to reinstall fucking SoundMAX, because no one actually knows. This update has royally screwed my audio completely, I have practically no sound and what the speakers do produce is not far removed from the sound of someone beating a cat in a bag. I've tried to "Roll Back" the drivers but that has literally done nothing.
Basically, all I want is, my sound to work again and my mic to actually work. wtf do I need to do?
