Hi Guys!

Had a bit of luck for a change!
A delivery company has accidently given me x2 NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800 cards in error, are these any good for gaming or what? I currently have a Nvidia BFG 285 GTX running in my gaming PC.

I was going to wait a month or 2 to see if the company notices or tracks back its error before using the cards or selling them

They're OK, I guess. Not what they're supposed to be handling, though. If you wanted to be completely honest, you could just give the shipping company a call.

If they didn't want them back, you could plug them in and go learn Maya.

The shipping company will most likely find out, because somebody is now still waiting for his/her Quadro FX 3800. Also, aren't those graphics design cards, or whatever you might call them, in any case not made for gaming?

Just Google'd the prices for them are there about £800 each! I didn't think they would be much good for gaming but they do support 3D!
If the company don't call in the next 8 weeks then I'm sticking em on ebay

they are, and you must run the correct driver for them. tbh, the card you have is better for gaming. the price of those cards reflect the R & D invested into writing the drivers for them, and getting them certified. The hardware itself is geared more for precision, than action.

I'd wait and see if they want them back then sell them if nobody calls or anything.

Wait a while to see what happens, then sell it on eBay.

Those are not cheap cards, do the right thing. If you keep them until someone calls, you'll just look like a jackass.

I'd do the honest thing and give the company a call and let them know.

No, they aren't any better for gaming specifically.  I think they are for networked workstation use, and I'm not sure any game would benefit from the increased processing power.

Ultimately the shipping company is liable for the mistake, but don't be an asshole.  Just call them and tell them the error.  I'll send you a cookie in return for your good deed in case you have no soul.

yeah, as everyone above said, the cards are worth quite a bit of money, and are basically useless to you for gaming applications. im sure you wouldn't want somebody to inconvenience you out of £1500 for little-to-no benefit of their own... so dont be that guy!

Why give the recipient more trouble than they will encounter, especially since these cards aren't very good for gaming? I'm sure the shipping company would appreciate it, just give the shipping company a ring as its the right thing to do.

I had a feeling about that, precise rendition of complex detail as opposed to rapid image production.

On a side note, I can't believe those weren't signed for. The shipping company must be staffed by world-class numskulls.
