Since replacing my PSU and dropping in new RAM my peecees been rather unstable. random apps will kill themselves for no reason and i can't reproduce any circumstances that would make them crash, settings (pointer settings for ex) randomly fuck up and it's generally annoying.

So wut do?

Is your RAM out of the official spec? I know the OCZ Velociraptor RAM, as an example, requires that you up the voltage in your BIOS otherwise the machine will be unstable. Also, is your PC hooked into a power strip? If so, are there lots of things running all at the same time from this power strip?

PC is sharing the same strip as a laptop and phone charger.

ed - the laptop *doesnt* have a battery so it's being directly powered, if that has any bearing

I'd run memtest, if nothing pops up swap the memory sticks around and make sure they're seated correctly.

Download it, burn it to a CD, load into BIOS, select your CD drive as boot drive, restart PC.

just pulled the ram out, the ribbon from mobo - a drive was loose on the mobo if that matters. i'll reboot with one stick and see how it handles.
