Something portable (lightweight, small, etc.) with decent specs. Purely for school work. price range is anywhere up to 1500ish but don't really want to spend that much, especially for a small average laptop.

was looking at macbook air/13" macbook pro, asus eee (but there are so many) and lenovo so far. open for other ideas as well

No, I mean hardware. They have nice features and usually pretty quality parts (from what I've seen on their desktops anyway).
