You seem to think I'm a democrat or something, having some trouble thinking through that? This thread is created by a rep specificaly geared towards bashing dems, so yeah my comments towards him are gonna refer more to reps. You also seem to have trouble understanding that when I say picking a party and believing everything they say is retarded, that I am not only refering to republicans.... Is there some wall there or are you also stuck in the mindset that you have to be totally one side or the other, and are therefore incapbilble of understanding a point of view that is neither.11 Bravo wrote:

As far as I know dilbert is as far left as lowing was right, to the point that I think that they are both just trolls, I stopped paying attention to most of what they wrote quite awhile ago.
ya but dilbert and some others dont get nearly the shit that lowing and harmor do. people like ken, varegg, dilbert, etc ALWAYS take the opposite stand of whatever they say. which is exactly what you people attack them for.
Maybe its because alot of the stuff lowing would say was designed to be as inflammatory as possible, made so that he would receive as much attention for each post as he could. The simple fact that Harmor seems to start more threads than anybody else is going to draw more responses, along with the fact that most, if not all of his threads seem to be brainwashed propaganda being regurgitated.
in your opinion. if its vile brainwash crap and he is brainwashed then why do you people need to tell him? why must you comment then?
Lowing wasn't as far right as people probably think he was. Some of his views were fairly moderate.
lowing was much more rational and coherent than harmor and especially horsey.Macbeth wrote:

I definitely could tolerate lowing a lot more than Harmor and HJ. I'd trade them for lowing in a heart beat. And a 3rd round draft pick in 2011.
He wasn't as stubborn as most of the people here either. I remember at least one occasion when he karma'd me that he had lost the argument.Spark wrote:

I didn't agree with his views on some things but he was one of the best people here and pretty cool to talk to in PMs.
lowing was consistent, and even though he refused to concede anything to civility, you knew where he stood.
i realized he could tone down the rhetoric if he thought there was a chance you would see his point of view. the funny thing is, in a way 11 Bravo is right - i bashed lowing for being 'thick-headed', and after we agreed to be civil personally, i found that his conservatism was not as extreme as his presentation of it.

No, Dilbert is, ironically, about as conservative as they get. If you look at individual issues, then sure, he could be chalked up as being a liberal, but the designation isn't about individual issues nor should it ever be. The stupid fucking labels people pigeonhole themselves into based on a sliver of belief is why we end up with polarized idiots running about. That a person who is pro-choice and cares deeply about the issue enough for it to weigh heavily on their vote doesn't make them a hippie socialist, simply a Democrat of convenience.Nic wrote:

Much of 'liberal' thought in North America is ultra conservative in nature. It's about control. Control over the individual, control over the economy, control over peoples decision making process because people can't be trusted. The parties that are labeled conservative, are of course ultra conservative as well. They just wish to be controlling on other issues, on the flip side in many cases.

No, lowing is just stubborn as a mule and won't concede a point, no matter how small, if he thinks he's right. It is possible to prove him wrong and make him think in a different light, it just takes effort and people not piling on.Nic wrote:

Its not so much about control, as realising that total personal freedom is as dangerous as total government control.JohnG@lt wrote:

Some careful control of some things in fact gives individuals more freedom and better lives.
My views on control are just slightly tighter than yours.

Way tighter. You've had many borderline fascist viewpoints that you've expressed.Dilbert_X wrote:

It comes down to a matter of trust. 'liberals' tend to think people are stupid and government is the answer to keeping them in line and helping along their thought process. 'conservatives' simply substitute church for government with the same end result. I happen to trust people to make their own decisions for good or ill. I understand and recognize that not all situations can be dreamt up in a government office and attempting to control or run the lives of others is a futile exercise. People will do what they want whether it's illegal or not. Proof positive being drug use. Best to create broad boundaries but punish severely for stepping over them.

Facist? Like what?
Its not about people being stupid, its more about many not being in a position to protect their own reasonable interests, a proportion being dishonest and greedy, and a small number being sociopaths.

So you punish for fraud, theft, murder, rape etc. Creating victimless crimes out of wholecloth is what has led to disrespect for law across the board. Scofflaws are worse than no laws at all.Dilbert_X wrote:

And worker safety and anti-monopoly laws can be translated as Karl Marx's manifesto.

Monopolies exist because of government intrusion in the market. Worker safety laws I will concede.Dilbert_X wrote:

Really, with lowing, it always seemed to me that anytime a heated thread he was involved in was dying out, he would concede ever so slightly, and all the hardcore liberals would rush back in and the thread would get hot again. I always took it as a stratigic move to troll.
Because this is an internet forum, and this is what happens here.11 Bravo wrote:

Please put 'liberals' in quotes. There's nothing liberal about most of their viewpoints.Nic wrote:

Governments generally work very hard to prevent monopolies occurring, otherwise they are the inevitable result of the 'free' market.
