my former professor for history of the early modern times/period has shown a part of the movie during a lecture on the seven years war some years ago. seems to be very authentic/historically correct in terms of clothing, set, weapons, buildings etc. unfortunately, kubrick didn't live long enough to make his napoleon-movie. would probably have been epic, too

the same seems to be the case with respect to stone's alexander (although there are some more desiderata because we have much less sources in comparison; take the reconstruction of babylon, for example)
nice anecdote:
the renowned alexander-biographer and oxford-professor fox was an (historical) advisor for the movie and insisted on riding as an extra together with the macedonian cavalry as condition for his help
and thirdly:
the really horrible movie troy has been reviewed pretty positively by a serious(?) historian for ancient history in a troia-miscellany. especially the character drawing of paris and achill have been commended. maybe i'll give it another try...

Overall the movie was decent, personally would only see this movie one more time and that's it, Gordan Gekko was not main antagonist; he becomes a secondary character in the movie. There one individual who was the main antagonist but his part was not strong and his presence was non-existed. I thought the main antagonist was money, for it changes people who wanted to be wealthy over making a difference. The movie has all sort of characters who are trying to make a killing on wall street and housing property; the outcome of their lives become apparent at the end of the movie I thought Shia LaBoeuf was good.

8/10 - Really enjoyed this, an unusual twist on your every day romantic movie, This easily the best role I have seen Adam Sandler in, I didn't think he had it in him to play such a complex character.

7/10 - An excellent thriller that would be a 10/10 classic if it had been a 2-2.5 hour movie,I felt it was a little rushed, and considering the quality of the plot they could have really been more detailed and had extended scenes.
