it's pretty amazing the quality that the footage has.

Also makes you really realize what US soldiers had to go through, looks like those strafing runs on ground targets created quite a lot of damage and causalities

Probably a stupid question but
Recently Declassified
The war was 65 years ago and Japan lost, why are there still things classified?

Assuming you get a straight answer, ask any government office how well organized their files are.

They've only just released stuff on the early days of MI6 as well, which only goes up to just after the war.

I remember it being something like 60 or 70 years before they can declassify stuff here.

Why do you post anything at all? It's a Zero, awesome cool, but what the fuck does it have to contribute to the discussion.

As far as I know that's a rare color photo from WWII of a Zero.  Awesome cool, huh?

How is it relevant to gun camera footage and the discussion of when documents are supposed to be declassified.

All you do on this forum is either post a link to something and say discuss, or post massive amounts of pictures. Thats it, you don't do anything at all. Go kill yourself.

Also, this is the Debate and Serious talk forum. This is serious, you are a retard.

Title is a little deceptive, to me you made it sound like the video is of Japanese planes shooing down American planes/strafing Americans when as far as I can tell its the other way around...

Mix of both.
Footage of airfield attack has a Vickers Wellesley in it.
One is of a C-47 getting air-to-aired, other two engine is of a "Sally or a Gwen" getting nailed.

Wellesley was pretty outdated by the start of WWII.  Thought they were only in the Middle East and African theaters?

I recently read a book on WWI aces.. those guys were insane. You've got to admire a pilot that will break from a fight, land in an open field, unjam their gun, and immediately return to the action. Albert Ball was one of those pilots.

As I said....mix of both.

The Wellesley is near the end of the run that starts with some, what looks like, PZL P.24. I don't think the Japanese had a gull-wing monoplane...could be wrong.

My recollection the Japanese didn't have any gull wing designs like the F4U Corsair pictured here:

During WWII though the Corsair proved more than a match for the Awesome Japanese Zero with a `low-wing` pictured here:

green aircraft on the left.

Single engine up front, twin canopies. One on the cockpit, second half-way back.

I can see the resemblance, but you can clearly see the Japanese red circle on the rest of the aircraft... Perhaps an aircraft they captured or a similar Japanese aircraft?

Can't find a Japanese aircraft that looks like that, then again, I can't find any that look like the one's with the "Meatball" on them.
