I have to respectfully disagree. Look at their treatment of Innocent bystanders anywhere they went. Almost anyone who had a first hand account of them came away with a horror story. A Business partner of my Friends dad has a Glass eye because a jap officer put his cigar out in it. That wasn't honor. They delighted in pregnant women of any culture. I can't go farther than that here. There seems to be a disproportionate amount of sadistic treatment at japanese hands. Their government promoted it proceeding and during WWII.Cybargs wrote:
for the japs is more about "honor" than anything else. They executed prisoners because surrendering should be met with suicide. it's more cultural differences than racism. yeah that pow was SAS afaik.
now you know, and just fyi, apologies are best done over karma...Hunter/Jumper wrote:
Explanation accepted I should have been clearer. I meant just that they were proceeded in levels of horror. I have become over defensive and I offer you an apology.
so it's all cool
Only if we go back to the last century...
Common practice first few centuries and prior, to kill every man, woman, and child of a conquered city/town.

Not true at all, look at Rome, Even if you pissed Ceaser of bad he'd only cut off hands. Relatively speaking that wasn't that bad.Ilocano wrote:

aka, samurai cultural rules did not apply to peasants or non-Japanese. My father can attest to brutal treatment of filipinos during the war. Beheading of civilians were only the beginning. And then there was that cannibal unit.Cybargs wrote:

The reason (well really fucked up but here it is) the japs did all that stuff because they were convinced that the other cultures were full of cowards with no honor (troops surrendering was the BIG one). They just decided those cultures were unfit to live. Samurais didn't raid their own peasants because of the whole bushido and seppeku thing going on.Ilocano wrote:
