mostly, this is to bitch about the pistols. (but you can add others if so inclined.)

i swear to god it takes too f***ing long to reload. it is kinda unrealistic...unless the shooter has sh*tty dexterity or something. instead of slapping in another magazine and just hitting the slide release, he has to take his time to reach atop the slide and manually reset it.

almost idiotic. i mean, that may be easier than fumbling for the catch, but only if you really suck at it, or have thick-ass gloves...at least. (that or you have some serious shellshock, which does happen if you are shooting nonstop for long periods of time. but still....)

but, on the other hand, it's just a game. as long as i know i can reload faster, and more tactfully (and correctly), than a game, then i'm good.

oh well. adapt and overcome.

Yeah? not fast enough? i would like to see you reload a gun whilest under stress and running. good luck

Exactly.  Besides, if you make reloading too fast, people would always do it - that would be unrealistic.  It helps to keep strategy because you must think if you should reload now or not, etc.

Also, it helps keep some of the "stronger" guns from being overbearing, like the DAO or the rocket launcher.

You reaload -damned- fast.  A hell of a lot faster than any other time... adrenaline is a great thing.
That and you start using shortcuts... like with machineguns instead of carrying out a proper stoppage drill you simply recock and keep firing

I think its to quick, i play airsoft, which the guns use magazines and work just like real guns, and under fire, it takes a long time to reload, i have a m4 airsoft gun and i could never take the mag out, put it in my pouch, put in another and cock and lock as fast as the guy in Bf2 does.

firing firing, 5 rounds left grab a mag out of a pouch.  weapon stops, reload, throw empty mag down shirt or large bag.  It can be done using some of these tiplets ;P

i think the tow needs to drop a second or two off reload times. i have been playing heaps on GD and this is the only thing i can really see as a problem.

as for the other guns, if your smart, you can make them have to reload in a fight to.

I hear ya mate.  My problem is with the L85A1.  It's a great gun, I love it, and it's a great improvement over the M16A2 (I've only played medic on USMC come to think of it.  huh.).  But I just find it annoying that the guy fumbles with the clip every time you reload.  He always tries to put it in crooked, then has to stop and fix it, then gets the clip in right.  Just plain annoying.

They Simulated The 'Proper' Way to Reload a Pistol at 'Average' Speed. Then Mimiced it With Game Characters. Its Fine, Stop Whinning.

To everyone who's sitting here and saying that reloading takes forever: Have you EVER fired a real pistol?  Have you ever even held one in your hands?

First of all, I like that BF2 makes you lose the extra bullets in the clip if you reload when not on empty.  I dig the realism, unlike Halo or HL2, where you magically keep the extra rounds (like you're gonna sit there and pull out every extra fucking round in the magazine and put em in your pocket...morons).

But back to reload speed.  Reloading a pistol is alot like riding a bike, in that it's not an easy thing to learn to do, but once you do learn, it's ridiculously fast and easy.  Hit the release, the clip hits the ground. Simultaneously your free hand is going to your ALICE or utility belt and getting another clip, and in one motion (the dry clip and the fresh one in yoru hand pass within a half inch of each other if you know how to reload efficiently, as the dry slides out of the handle and the new one is being positioned) the new clip is slapped in.  Reaching up and pulling on the release is a quick, twitchy motion.  Reloading a pistol takes about 2 seconds, realistically.

If I'm in a tight corner and I've just killed a RED, I grab the dead guy's kit and just hope he had a few rounds left
As for 'reload', I've never really given it much thought, it just does what it does

I duno about you, but I save my clips
But yeah, if it's an "OHBALLS" moment, I'm opening my mag pouch while hitting the mag release button, letting the mag fall to the ground as I slide the new mag in.  When it comes down to me or him everything goes out the window as far as 'proper' ways of doing things goes.
I think I said it before in another topic, but machineguns have long stoppage drills... normally all that needs to be done to remedy the problem is cock and keep firing

Maybe they can use the extra metal to save a few bucks on building your casket, then. ;-)

Hell with a stoppage drill. Should be able to use our own weapons in the tops of HMMWV's, too...the 50 cal overheats, bust out the pistol and keep firing until the 50 cal is cool again, grab the handles and rock on!

My issue is with the M4. I own an M4. In the game, he drops the mag, puts a new one in, racks the charging handle and hits the foward assist. If you empty a mag, the bolt stays back. All you need to do is slap a new one in and pop the bolt catch, hit the forward assist if you want, but other than that, you are good to go. Another one of things I think they slacked on or just decided against using as their animation is "cooler" to watch. They spent so much time developing the game to be as realistic as possible, yet they miss something very simple.

realistically i'd say 'screw that', the amount of time/effort put into pulling out my pistol would remedy the machinegun. (also you can ues one of my patented shortcuts )
in game though, that would be cool... but a little annoying and hard to set up.

yup. same thing with the pistol.  They did the same thing in bfV... i'm guessing they did it to lengthen the reload time... makes people think twice before reloading

Yes, yes I have.  Shot a .22, a .32, a submachine gun, and a longer range rifle.  Could be called a sniper rifle, I guess but really not so much.

Well - there is difference on how you should reload your gun and how you reload in action (when your drill comander doesn't see you )
