I question the validity of statistics measured in poorer nations because of the inherent corruption of their systems, so I can agree with you regarding the inaccuracy of certain statistics.

Also, even though Japan is higher on the list than we are, I would never want to live there because of how crowded and corrupt they are as well.  Also, I'm not a fan of Japan's culture either -- they are WAY too conformist.

Likewise, I would not want to live in Australia despite their economic progress because of things like the internet blacklist.

So, I can see where you are coming from -- although places like Norway and Canada certainly seem nice.

Well, I just want to make this clear...   You're saying that the internet blacklist is no longer in effect, correct?  If that's true, then you can post a link to the sites that were blocked, right?   I remember earlier on that even revealing the sites in question would get you fined by the Australian government.

I think there should be a special tax income tax bracket for people who make over $500,000 a year.  65%.  And people that served in the military for 4+ years in a combat MOS should get a 50% federal income tax break for life.  There should also be NO cap for Social Security, why only tax Social Security for the first $80,000????  Unfair to poor young people that need Social Security but will never see a dime.

65% is a bit high...  I don't think income tax rates should go any higher than say..  50%.

The reason for the Social Security Base Wage Cap is due to the fact that a lack of a cap would create a situation where millionaires would be due ridiculous amounts of money from the SS system.  In the short run, it might look like ending that cap would shore up some debts, but in the long run, it would just increase entitlement spending massively.

If anything, we should be moving away from SS altogether.

Could it be because you are clueless?

Social Security is capped because the people who make over that much aren't the people that will be using the benefits when they retire. It's designed as a system of forced retirement savings, not as a wealth redistribution system where the rich subsidize the retirements of the poor. It never was and never should be anything more than that.

Stop being a jealous bitch and go make yourself rich instead of whining and crying about people with more money than you.

WTF, where do you get your info from??

Yes there was a plan to block some sites. Yes they wanted to conceal the addresses of those sites. But it was never introduced (baring some volunteer testers) and it never will be introduced. The list has been leaked and talked about on national television almost 1.5 years ago.

In March 2009, after a user posted a link to a site on ACMA's blacklist on the Whirlpool forum, Whirlpool's service provider, Bulletproof Networks, was threatened with fines of $11,000 per day if the offending link was not removed. The same link in an article on EFA's website was removed in May 2009 after ACMA issued a "link-deletion notice", and the EFA took the precautionary step of also removing indirect links to the material in question.

The 2009 winner of the George Polk award for videography shows footage of 26-year-old Neda Agha-Soltan being shot and dying during Iran protests. This footage has also been declared "prohibited content" by ACMA, attracting fines of $11,000 per day for any Australian website which posts a link to the video

No, it was because I said that the Irish invented alcoholism and wife beating.  I think I pissed off a Moderator that is Indian because I didn't give his race the credit.  Oh well, I'm willing to put that all behind me now.

So how is life Jord, you and the Mr. still doing ok?

Yeah G@lt.

Drool was before your time, so I understand why you would think that, but he's really just some right-wing nutjob (you can tell by the sig) and a while ago he got banned for insulting CameronPoe for being Oy-Rish and he re-registered within the hour with more than a few not so subtle derogatory terms built into his new account and he hasn't changed the location back.

i can and did.

it's not hate, especially towards someone who hasn't been around much - it's wondering why the moderation would allow back all these accounts that were banned for reason.

Only MajorSpittle was banned, and that had more to do with making a certain Moderator that I won't name look like a jack'ass after he said I was racist for bad mouthing Muslims.

Personally, I'm all for tax increases. Seriously. I've thought about this for a while, and whilst I don't like paying taxes, it seems really obvious when you actually visit places that differ to what you're accustomed to. The UK is a fucking shithole, whereas if you visit places like Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the Netherlands, which have much higher taxes, they seem really nice and organised in comparison. I've come to the conclusion that I'd much rather live in a decent country and have less spending money than live in an utter shithole and have more money.
More power to you and your UK gov. Here, higher taxes are associated with more corruption.
