A friend of mine has £400 to spend on a laptop and is wondering what one to get.

I found this one http://www.ebuyer.com/product/189035 and since I have a Compaq Presario and I'm very happy with it I thought that this would be a decent lappy. I'm looking around on ebuyer, dabs etc, so I wanted some input from y'all.

The user will be using it for internet, music, dvds etc.

I've had a compaq presario laptop, mind you it was about 5 or maybe 5+ years ago so keep that in mind. It served me well, and I don't think I had any major problems with it.

If he forked out an extra £20-30 then he could get a new i3 laptop. But it probably doesn't matter that much for his needs.

Something like...

lol, i have a pc just needing a cpu.

i have enough parts to build three more, minus 2 cpu's and one graphic card.

i have windows server 2003 r2 ready to install, no machine to put it on yet . . .

I did have a bunch of cpu's just layin around, there might still be a p4 2.8GHz around. Threw a bunch out a little while back, think I still have a socket 775 mobo and 4GB ddr2 here somewhere, the HTPC that I have been meaning to build but prob never will.

Not sure exactly. I've heard that due to hyperthreading etc a 2.4Ghz i3 is about equivalent to a 2.6-2.7Ghz Core 2 Duo. But I haven't had any personal experience.

That Compaq looks like a solid deal.
