high speed rail is pretty much a financial disaster. the high speed rail company here is hugely in debt. and theres really only two directions.

I'm fond of rail because of the scheduling. I'd take trains to/from LA all the time and it's nice to show up a minute before the train arrives, buy the ticket, then hop on. None of this arriving 3 hours early for security checks, baggage claim, sitting on the tarmac.

In my mind, high-speed rail is effective for a weekend getaway or short business trip. I'm thinking LA to SF or LV. Obviously airplanes are going to be more effective with cross-country travel.
