iTunes is displaying all my songs as missing (they're all on the external), but I can manually find them on the HD.
uTorrent is giving me a similar error, however if I force a recheck, it'll find the download location and seem to be working for a bit, then it'll give the error again.

I've also noticed my external has reset all my viewing options in the folders (thumbnail size, sorting order).

Unplugging it and plugging it back it didn't work.

buy another external and back-up... when external drives start doing shit like that it's normally a sign they're on the way out

can't give you the technical low-down but i've had about 3 fail on me with an absolutely ridiculous amount of data-loss

better safe than sorry... storage is cheap

I got another external at uni. I guess I'll bring that one in and back everything up.

Although that's kind of a rip-off if it breaks down...it's only like a year old.

you can cover a failed hard-drive under warranty and get a replacement

what you can't get a replacement of is your data and treasured shit

so put it on the other external you have asap, then worry about troubleshooting this one

Run a disk check and search and fix bad sectors on it and also run a SMART test.

Somehow the drive letter changed. No clue how though..
