no. the point is: wilhelm tell is a (mythical) character from (the german-speaking part of) switzerland. wilhelm is a proper name. if i was talking about william shakespeare, i wouldn't call him wilhelm shakespeare since william is his proper name. same goes for king george V. (georg V.), margaret (margarete) thatcher etc.Finray wrote:
True, although cl4u53w1t2 comes in with the "correct spelling", when he is more popularly known as "William Tell". The reason for this? To ensure technical accuracy and try to educate people for future reference? No. He wishes to seem superior to everyone else because he knows the proper, but unknown, spelling of a name.Superior Mind wrote:
A name is more deserving of accuracy than the placement of an apostrophe.
and that character is definitely better known as wilhelm tell

time and time again you seem to 'thrive' off correcting people about cross-lingual references... the amount of times you have said to me "hurf durf i hear you have read author 'x', shame not in the original language like me!" or "ho ho ho watch film 'y', it's in spanish so you won't understand it but watch it anyway because i can!"... it's like a little form of ego-stroking for you.
in western folklore (i.e. english speaking, anglophone world), it's william tell. the americans and english don't call him wilhelm.
if you want to call margaret thatcher 'margarete thatcher' in germany with your german friends... that's your prerogative.

sure, from now on it's frederick nietzsche
you're just being absurd for the sake of suiting a shitty argument
in popular culture, it's william tell
the western world popularly knows Nietzsche's first name to be Friedrich
so moot point, really

I love the people who feel the need to point out it's fake.
Are they under the impression that a .50 cal bullet only does damage the size of its diameter?
