I just broke 20,000 - so have a few hours under the belt...

The most annoying thing in BF2, seems to be random gun-jamming.
By the way, when I say gun jam, I mean it only shoots one round when you click the mouse;
it will not fire automatically if you keep the mouse button pressed down.

To kill something, you have to use it like the pistol essentially.

Seems to be mostly with G36C or G36E (whatever)

and I have been trying to figure out why this is happening...

like maybe its after parachuting off of a huge building or something;

Two things:

1. I can't figure out why
2. I can't fix it either (i usually die finding out though! It's usually a close-encounter when I find out the hard way.

I know you should fire in controlled bursts; but the gun in this state is literally just shooting one round, not a burst; it's almost lame.

NOTE: this hasn't happened ever with the PKM (or any other support-MG) or G3 - seems like the G36x type weapons.

Anyone know how why or how to fix this crappola?

I've noticed that when you jump off a building and land and get hurt, you can't fire your gun for almost like 30 seconds, which 99.99999% of the time results in me getting pwned.

You had it on single shot.... i just broke 76,000.... so i got some dick under the belt now, just make sure it says "3" or "A" when u spawn or chute down, take my advice.... im kinda a Delta ya know?

Hit the 3 key again on your weapon to change the rate of fire, the parachute I have problems as well...best I can figure is to hit it atleast 3 times after jumping off whatever, sometimes that doesnt even work.

Hey where do you guys get those stats screenshots I always see in your message footers?

O man I didn't know there was a rate-of-fire setting

I asked other people before but they didn't know

Where do you look on the screen to see if you are in rapid or single-shot rate?

I just hammer it repeatedly until i hear that reassuring 'thwuump'...

As for not being able to fire after falling off a building - Try jumping off a 15ft high ledge and firing once youve hit the ground with a fractured ankle, bet you couldnt do it.... lol

Just hit all the keys on your keyboard, one of them will probably lauch a inflateble madrass that you can land on - and there you are good to go :-)

Thats when i always notice it. After u take falling damage it takes a second for the gun to work. Usually if u click the trigger once or twice it comes back to normal.

I had this happen to me also. I could single fire while on auto but full auto burst were acting like the gun was jamming as you suggest. Took a while to notice the problem because I always do short bursts and rarely try full auto.

I came to find that it was actually my mouse not registering the sustained input. I use the Logitech mx518 and did a bit of research on it. There are a lot of reports stating the left click going bad for other people. I love the feel of the mouse so I bought a new one and whadda you know, full auto is back.

Not that this will help you but just a thought.

Got nothing to with the mouse i believe, often if you choose the same weapon as you have in hand it will change from full auto to the next in line witch is single shot, next time you do the same it will choose burst (3 shot) ... alas the next time it will be back on full auto.

Same happends if you tap the nr 3 key, rate of fire will change - try it :-)

Some weapons don't even have a full auto mode so you may want to check that also. The G36-E (medic unlock) for example doesn't have a full auto mode only semiauto and burst fire modes.

Unfortuantely, That only works if what you jumped off of was short enough to allow for it to deploy, lol.

I just threw the mouse thing out there since his problem seemed similar to the one I had. Best way to find if this is happening would be to hop in a tank or humvee. Using their auto weapons is how I discovered my problem.

If this is not your problem then I would see if you are somehow flipping to single fire mode as the others mention.

By the way, (i wonder if anyone has experinced this) when you bail from say, a jet and don't open my chute and land in the water, you swim SO incredibly slowly.

There will be a "3, A, or 1" in the bottom right hand corner next to your ammo count

I tried this - sometimes you do, sometimes you don't. However, if you are swimming really slowly, you die immediately you get to land! I also tried bailing from 2500 ft/m (whichever it is) into water, and it only ever takes off 1/2 health off! lol
