Has anyone got one? Are they any good?

They sound like a great idea, but do they work well in practice?

So how does this work?

Is it just a big buffer cache on a normal HDD?

From what I've read it just works like a standard HDD to begin with, it analyses what files you use most often and then transfers those to the SSD section.  Results in fast boot times and quick load times on frequently used apps after it's been in use for a little while.

So no one has any experience with these?

I'll hold off on buying one then.

I don't have one of those Seagate Momentus XT personally - mainly cause I'm too busy with RL. I'd certainly like one - but everyone seems to adore them. SSD performance for boot and programs, HDD space for data.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
