this year we're dealing with a landlord through proper estate agents, who were so much more strict with the financial background checks and on enforcing the contract and housing rules/regulations etc. felt like a whole different affair. but, yeah, as soon as something goes wrong and you report it... nothing. absolutely fucking useless. paying a premium rent and having to live as if we're tenants in a manhattan apartment for nothing. load of bollocks.

How many people are you sharing with? Part of the reason why ours was so much is we were paying for an extra 'bedroom' (read closet) because someone dropped out after refusing to live somewhere so small. It was half rent though, but we still had to cover it.Uzique wrote:

We have an extra room in our loft. It's decorated, has carpet, is big enough to fit a bed in, has a roof window thingy ... but I have no idea what the landlord was actually planning to do with it. There is no way to put a staircase in without getting rid of one of the normal upstairs bedrooms. Was pretty strange when we first "discovered" it. Looked like someone had been living up there due to all the junk thrown up there, haha
