Hi, i wanted you guys ask something.

I am thinking about buying me a new Graphics Card... Geforce6600GT (just 200€ max. ^^ )
I thought about this one, as it did good in tests etc and it'said that it is good for overclocking

http://www.bestseller-computer.de/?ID=7438
(german, sorry, I'm german ^^ )

Now i wanted to know if BF2 would work on Max. Details with max. AF and some AA (or without.. just working well ^^ )

My actual system is:

P4 3,06GHz
1024MB RAM
7400rpm Harddisc
ATI Radeon 9600Pro 256MB (Overclocked and tweaked with ATT ^^)
MSI Neo 848P Neo Mainboard
Windows XP Home

I would be pleased if some of you could tell me how long you think the 6600GT will be able to work with new games (with acceptable graphics and speed ) and if it can cope with actual games on maximum details as well.

thx in advance.

I use a 6600GT with all the settings on medium, and have no problems at all,  but ask others, some will say they also have all settings on medium as high settings can have detrimental effects such as lagging. There is also another thread currently running on here with another 6600GT user. As for 'how long 6600GT will work with new games', is a bit like saying, 'how long is a piece of string

I doubt 6600GT would work everything one high, might work but doubt it and I can absoulotly be sure that it won't work with AF or AA, work as work perfectly without lags...

Mhm i run BF2 all on medium as well ^^
But my Radeon9600Pro is crappy... i'm sick of it, at my father's computer (same sys, just Radeon9800 XT) BF2 looks much better...

and as i thought the 6600GT is younger than the 9800 and was in Nvidia's top class, it should do good ^^
anyway, all i want is to be sure i don't buy crap! i'm still student and i will have pay it on my own, so i want the best graphics card i can get for 150€...
I've looked for one over two months... and my buddys recommended the 6600GT...

I have upgraded my graphics acrd already once (9200SE => 9600Pro) But the upgrade was crap! i don't want to have such a pity again...

6600GT most definitely does not = crap. I have one. I have everything on medium and it looks and runs great. Won't be able to run on high.. but meidum looks good. I'm gonna be upgrading soon. getting a 6800GT and another gig of ram. should run on high pretty darn good

SlayThem: How much does a 6800GT actually cost (I have only 150€ ^^) and is it much more perfomance?

what interface are you looking for? PCI-E or AGP?
I think 6800GTs are around $300

Be sure to get a good power supply as this beast takes a lot of watts !

6600GT is definitley NOT crap..... A very good gaming card at a reasonable price. I live in the UK though, and all our software/hardware prices can be more expensive than other countries... We call it 'Rip off Britain'

AGP. Aww 300$ is far too much ^^

What a power supply do i need?

//Edit: I've looked it up, at the moment i've got a 300W power supply. Will it be enough?

I have a 6600GT and have all but 2 settings on high and 4xAA @ 1280x1024. When put all of the settings on high, my system starts caching ( I think the 2 settings I dont have on high are textures). If you have more than a gig of ram I am willing to bet that it should work fine. I only have a gig. Load times are signicantly longer as well, again, due to extra textures and not enough ram to back it up. With the settings I run it looks good and has good framrates.

OholibaH, I have 6600GT with a 400watt PSU... zero crashes. But don't take my word for it on what wattage you might need, search on google, there's a wealth of information

i'm running a BFG 6600GT-OC, with 1 gig of ram...as everyone here says, it runs just great with settings on medium...as for how well it will perform on future games, thats a pretty good question.  the high end games coming out over the next few months, quake 4, FEAR and DandD online (late 1st quarter 2006?) will surely test the limits of the 6600, but you should be able to play them somewhat reliably.

bleh...i'm saving for a couple of 7800's and an SLI board...should be able to afford them as soon as something new and shiny hits the market.

Hmm 300W ? dude even without a powerful video card I suggest you change it to something more powerful like 400W atleast or better 480W would be a good place, not sure which you need for the video card I guess somebody else will tell you but 300W ?! holy crap, how old is that ?

about one and a half years old ^^... and it's quite noisy.

how much is a silent 480W PSU? U know a good one? Pls tell me ^^

btw: will the rest of my system manage with the new GPU? atm my GPU slows down my whole system...
if it's the other way round with the new card... wouldn't it be better to wait a bit and take a whole new system... i'm not state of the art with hardware so pls tell me ^^

P4 3,06GHz
1024MB RAM
7400rpm Harddisc
ATI Radeon 9600Pro 256MB <== soon changed

Okay, m8s, i have decided NOT to buy a 6600GT...

But a 6800GT instead ^^
Here's the Link: http://www.aopen.nl/products/vga/Aeolus6800GT-DV256.htm
I'll get it for 274€ (about 290$ - 300$ i think).

I've recieved the money i needed to buy this one from some friends, i made a homepage for

I think this one will last longer, won't it? And i've found a 520W PSU extra silent for 45€... the PSU pay my parents ^^

I'm really happy about the situation now
