That was really fucking cool. How are they doing that, using a live video feed to control the airplane from? It's too bad he couldn't fly much into the city, but I guess those things are going to have reasonably limited range.
I don't know, but I thought the coolest part was the responsiveness of it. It looked like he was in Brooklyn Heights and he flew all the way to the Statue of Liberty. That's gotta be at least 5-7 miles. Impressive flight responses for a distance that far.ghettoperson wrote:

My cousin got married in the park he was flying it out of on Labor Day

No, most of that video he was within 1000 feet of his launch point. He just edited it to make it seem like more of the city was seen.ghettoperson wrote:

I loved the diving down the buildings. Those are the sorts of shots you can't get from a regular plane.
I was hoping to see a cruise over NYC, instead he was flying in the same general area. The buzz by the Statue Of Liberty was cool though.
Yeah but he buzzed some of those buildings pretty close. That's not the sort of thing I'd be comfortable trying based on what I can see from that distance away.JohnG@lt wrote:

I definitely want to see a part 2 where he smuggles the plane past Empire State Building security (it's like an airport if you've never been) and launches it off the observation deck.
He's using a live feed. In the end you can see one guy holding up something to his face and then you have the mascot also having something similar.ghettoperson wrote:

Goddamn, thats awesome.

Yeah.
Shame it was NY though.

it's fpv, first person view.camera on the plane transmits back to pilot who sees it on his goggles.
he's austrian and some of the stuff he does is very detrimental to the pastime/hobby/sport of r/c model flying.
people have been killed and seriously injured by models.
last thing we need is some idjit flying a model over a heavily populated area, things have and do fail and cause a crash.
