i wear a turban, so i can't exactly wear them outside of home anyway. They'd strictly be for my room/home use, and i don't really mind the leaking sound. i'm usually on my own up there anyway

I know "Buy Other Sound Equipment," but my Bose on-ear headphones (not noise-canceling) sound pretty good to me. They're very comfortable, and they've lasted many years. Only thing that has broken was the headphone cable which is cheaply replaced. Surely you can find a used, great-condition set for less than $100.

don't take shortcuts on audio gear, goons. especially in the lower end... $50-100 more or less either way can make a big difference

the HD555's are a strong set of 'average', every-day use headphones. solidly reliable and a good all-rounder.

definitely one of the better sets in that price-bracket.

i would suggest, as with all audio equipment, that you go to a shop and try some out first. it's your ears, after all, not the reviewer's.
