I thought BF2 was BF2 because of the Teamwork element that the different kits brought in ALONG with the vehicles....
Correct me if I'm wrong but Berlin was vehicle free.... I think, dodgy memory though.
USMC had 2 Bradleys, Iraqis had 2 MBTs. Berlin was dominated by tanks.
Desert Combat had a few infantry only maps, Basrah Nights and Bridge I believe.
BF1942 with no mods had no infantry-only maps, and I doubt BF2 will ever have an infantry only map.
The Battlefield series is DEFINED by the variety of weapons and vehicles. What sets it apart from infantry-only games like CS:S is the fact that it has a variety of vehicles on every map. The use of planes and helicopters in FPS games was pioneered by BF1942, and it has been one of the key reasons why it has been so successful.
BF2 is NOT and will never be an infantry game like Counter Strike. The best you can hope for is a mod.
I really think BF2 needs the anti-air weapons Desert Combat had. No one bitched and whined about planes in DC like they do in BF2, and it's because of the ass-awful implemention of AA. We need shoulder-mounted dumb-fire Stingers and we need flak cannons.
Edit: Actually, Basrah Nights had humvees and trucks, so I think Bridge was the only infantry only map.
