hey shifty

every climber attempting the summit of everest has a family. everyone has taken that risk. everyone has that responsibility.

so just turn that question on its head: would you want to risk leaving your OWN family behind because of someone else?

i mean jesus christ you make it sound as if airlifting somebody off the top of everest is routine

if someone falls down a crevasse or a ravine or breaks their leg on top of everest, they're fucked. it's that simple.

mounting a rescue into the deadzone is pointless. the guy will have run out of oxygen before you can even get to him

There are exceptions to the rule. Don't assume that every victim was fucked.

On another note, all these people have oxygen tanks and they're complaining that they don't have enough oxygen in the atmosphere around them. What the heck?

You should read or watch Touching the Void. It's important to try everything you can and do your best, but sometimes you have to move on. What's the point in adding another tally to the casualties? Besides, some people need to put themselves first when you get into the thick of it. If a hospital was burning down and people were evacuating, you don't see a blind guy with no legs trying to wheel a comatose patient out.

I thought shifty should know this. 1/4 days on everest, the average windspeed is that of a catagory 1 hurricane or 74 miles an hour, couple that with subzero temperatures and that makes for one shitty place to fly.

The climbers know the risks when they go, they stare death in the face and then punch it, death decides to let it slide or to punch right back.

what would be awesome about walking through an urban shithole? it would be like birmingham, only worse

and you get cancer! as a bonus for your trip!
I don't know about you, but being in an abandoned city where 50,000 people use to live gets my attention.  I think it would be such a unique experience to walk through streets of a deserted city because of it's life changing history. Don't get me wrong, I would love to travel to more popular tourist locations, but areas like this intrigue me.

i mean..Oh shitz COD4 lets go there and lIeK pwnzor thebad guys near that pool and that broken down ferris wheel.  thats like the only reasons i would want to go. man these video games, movies, and tv shows  really make Pripyat look like the bestest pLaCe to go ever! screw radidation! How long can an oxygen tank last?

My point was that most encounters with dying people are in areas where they have plenty of oxygen left.

my point is exactly that trying to rescue a dying person and lift them off a mountain with limited oxygen is impossible

how do you get a stretcher up to the most inhospitable/inaccessible place in the fucking world? on limited oxygen?

shifty stop talking. people don't just leave others to die on a mountain because they simply don't care; they know it's a fact they must face

I knew they have limited oxygen.

I knew they cannot be airlift, because I already knew about the high winds up there. I never even mentioned airlifting.

I knew it's extremely hard to save somebody who cannot move by their own power.

I knew they were fully aware of the consequences.

I knew all these things before you pointed them out. Do you really have to be such an asshole? Do you really think I'm that stupid?

You could have just said, "Nah, unfortunately there's nothing they can do." Yet every time, you have to be the #2 biggest cunt on these forums.

How much longer will that reactor that blew in Chernobyl be irradiated? How long does radiation last anyway?

I'm not going to go get a Ph.D in whatever would grant me knowledge on the matter.

I just wanted to know when the area will be habitable.
