that's fucking lame, reason #200 why I won't ever buy a home that's in an HOAKmar wrote:
Actually he was only able to take full control in this situation BECAUSE it was paid off. Otherwise he would have to get in line behind the banks. In a deed restricted community they can put a lien on your house if you don't make the Homeowners Association Fees (HOA). Usually the hoa just tries to get you to pay. You guys want to hear somethin fucked up? I was talking to a guy yesterday that bought an 800k house for less than 10k. Apparently an elderly woman wasn't paying her home owners association fees on her house that her and her husband paid off. So the guy I was talking to went in and bought the lien (for 9kish) from the homeowners association, kicked the lady out, and moved in.The womans husband had just died, and the husband most likely made the HOA payments. What a scumbag. He was bragging about it to, making comments like "merry christmas haha". I guess he does it a lot. He also whipped out a fat stack off $ and was telling us about his 900hp car.
Now that is taking advantage of the system. Later I found out that he was also in jail for 10 years for selling drugs. He showed my buddy his stab wounds n shit .
edit: wait how was he able to buy it if they had the house paid off?
