It was funny after it was released in cinemas all the imdb threads were "is she hot" "i think she's fat" "would you do her y/n?" and all the chicks were pissed off at the fat comments. That was more entertaining than the movie.Poseidon wrote:

all i know is, it'd be pretty kinky if you were fucking her and suddenly her head started spinning around
Tron.... wasn't as bad as people made it out to be. Or maybe it didn't seem that way because I went into it with low expectations.
Polar Express - 7/10
What a wacky ride!

Rampage
In general: 6.7/10
For what it's supposed to be: 10/10
Basically an hour (after 30 minutes of build-up) of insane violence. Was lulzy in some parts, clever twist near the end, basically good if you just wanna see a slasher (or more accurately, shooter). Available on Netflix instant streaming

des hommes et des dieux - 9/10
absolutely phenomenal cinema. one of those brilliant examples of uniquely french storytelling that seems to encompass all of life itself in one plot.

^ the ending to that film is just... wow. devastatingly good. perfectly directed. emotionally wrenching.

So would you recommend it to anyone?

anybody that considers themselves to be a fan of film/cinema... sure, i can't see why not.
the ostensible plot (i.e. about christian monks in algeria) doesn't particularly snag me, either. but the cinematography, the acting, the underlying themes and everything else are of such a high quality that you really would fail to find something to appreciate. it won the top prize at the 2010 cannes film festival... so i guess you could consider it a 'film for filmies'.

21 grams - 8/10.
one of the most effective character-driven movies i have seen in recent memory. the narrative technique is very good, just like amores perros. really like the experimental 'coming together' you get in iñárritu's movies. penn, tores and watts put in really memorable performances. good watch... can't believe i haven't got around to seeing it before now.

Amazing film. I qued it in netflix on the recommendation of Uzique. I decided to stream it last night. I thought to myself, even if the film is a bomb I'd at least get to exercise my French. But wow. It's 155 minutes, and it flys by. The movie is compelling. You really get drawn in to the story. Definitely not what you would call "white washed". It is gritty, and in your face.
Simply one of the best prison dramas I've ever seen.
9/10
and btw, netflix would not let me turn off the english subs in the stream format. I'm still going to go ahead and have the DVD mailed to me so that I can watch without the fcn subtitles the whole movie.

Matchstick Men - 7/10
This was a surprisingly good watch ! Solid acting and I didn't see the twist coming at all, which made it that little much better. Well put together, it's not too heavy on the brain but at the same time it's rather engrossing and not your usual Hollywood trash, just what I wanted tonight.

I was just checking out Netflix, that seems pretty neat, shame it's only in the US. I may even give up torrenting if they expanded to the UK...Do you lose much quality on the HD stream?
