Hey BF2s Tech, got a quick question regarding a choice in sound card: Looking to get a new sound card for my PC, can anyone recommend one that will do well not only with output but also input? This is the motherboard that I have at the moment: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6813131637

If you guys think this mother board will be enough, let me know. Don't want to have to spend money if I don't have to, but I am sure I'm going to need a new card.

what do you want to do? Like, just a simple (PC) microphone, or something like connecting a keyboard, condenser mic and/or additional gear?

Sorry, should have specified. I'm doing voice recording with a friend and his poetry, but his laptop and built-in mic are absolute shite (no duh, right?), so we want to use my PC to record his stuff - it's poetry that really should be heard rather than read, that's why we want to record some decent tracks.

Ok.... so for spoken word, you'll want something crisp, I actually like ribbon mics for vocal recordings, but even something like an AKG 414 can be good.....



...But I'm sure all of these are out of your price range. What mic are you going to be using, then? Or are you looking for a mic too?

At the moment I am not looking for a microphone. I think my friend is actually look into one himself, but at the moment I have just my Creative Fatality headset and the sound quality on that has (up until now) impressed me for the price. That being said, I know it's not the best. I'm just curious if the sound card currently built into the motherboard that I have would be sufficient and perhaps spend the money on a proper microphone or if I should upgrade.

if you are just using the headset mic, the onboard should be no problem.
