i have a fund but it'll be for my first house deposit and perhaps for a car, if i need it quickly

Honestly if you wanna find employment here, look in the big cities. Creative types like yourself would probably fare better in San Francisco, LA, NYC. If you wanna work for a non-profit or a think tank then my fair city is the spot.

A lot of college graduates who live in expensive cities in the US usually have roommates or live in group homes.

what are you doing for living arrangements? back at home with no bills/rent/over-heads? home is too comfortable and easy for me... and too far away from my gf / uni friends / uni network... don't want to graduate and just move home, age 21, as if the last 3 years were a paid-vacation. and as i said living near my uni network would be prohibitively expensive.

just one of those days where you get anxious to sort out the next 'big unknown' year of your life, when you really can't.
