My friend had a Samsung laptop in the $1300 range for all of about 18 hours. He returned it and bought a Macbook.

Seriously...tell your friend to check them out. The main plus being the battery life. It'll last a full 8 hour day at school easily.

Yeah, they could just do that too. Although, on the uk site the only model in that budget is the cheapest 13in one.

Re: MacBook. He plays football manager, I dont think macs support that. He's off to the sony shop today, part of the reason he wanted to go Sony is cause he gets free data recovery from his old laptop.

laptops move on so fast that in 12 months any fucking laptop is gonna lose 1/2 it's worth

He got a new Vaio, floppy; rejoice.

He managed to get it for £920, with the top spec i5, 750gb hdd instead of the 500 it came with, top spec gfx card (I'm guessing 330m but he had no idea what it was) and he seems chuffed. Karmas all round later tonight.
