How does one filter vodka?

I assume it's more complicated than using something like filter-coffee paper.
I think it's pretty similar to one of those water filters you get on jugs, not very complicated or expensive at all.

Twenty seconds of Google research:

- Brita filter (a brand of water filter)
- Will improve quality slightly. Doesn't make it "top shelf" quality
- Better off using activated carbon (dunno, didn't bother looking it up) as a filter
- Not worth the effort

Fair enough, I guess that's why brands don't bother with it!

This is the only difference between vodkas. Old school vodka companies (think Russia) don't filter their vodka because it's tradition and they want that extra flavor. "Premium" vodkas run theirs through a charcoal filter to remove any sediment that might leave a taste behind. Then of course the water added to the ethanol has an impact on the flavor as well. Take any two vodkas, run them through a Brita filter, and they will taste identical on the other side.

The idea that you can take shit vodka and filter it with Brita and it will pass as Goose is absurd. Oh yeah, you heard it somewhere. Has to be true.

That's good to hear. People always seem to present that as fact, I've never seen an actual comparison done.

Ketel One is better than Grey Goose any day of the week. No idea why GG became the 'premium standard'.

They are very similar. Wouldn't say one is better than the other. Both are good.

Good vodka is virtually odorless and tasteless. I'll drink it with just soda water and a lime if it is good.

Have you guys tried elit by Stolichnaya?
