I don't see how an apc and a fighter jet are different in your analogy if they are both attacking soldiers on the carrier. I don't see anything wrong with either attacking the carrier and its AA installments. Both the jet and the apc can destroy the AA. You could argue that the APC is defending the jets.... People don't seem to know that there is a second gun next to one of the giant antennas on the other side of the ship.
what i ment was the apc spawncamping a point like the hotel on karkand, not the carrier. What was said earlier about the stripe on the boats being visable from a jet is true, but i've lived a bunch of times getting in a boat and taking it to the beach on Wake. I was on AOC's server last night and their admin was trying to tell me that gunning down the essex AA periodically was baseraping and not allowed at their server. I think the noob was just tired of being blown up in the AA. Rules like that are probably against the EA ROE.
In all fairness, the Essex vs. decent pilots is not at all a fair fight. Any decent pilot knows that the AA can be taken out with guns at far beyond the Essex's range. Completely unfairly raping the Essex only takes two long distance passes from appropriate angles (blocking the view of the untargeted AA) and then a person is free to do all the cheap-ass baseraping they want. I try not to take more than a pass or two after the AA because I realize that it makes the USMC people miserable when you are flying over gunning them down in a jet while they wait there defenseless. Basically Wake is an unbalanced map. Just about the only safe way off the carrier and onto the island is by taking an F35 and bailing over a flag when the J10 locks you. Attack choppers, transport choppers, and especially boats are amazingly easy prey for a jet pilot and if one is around you are just going to have to give up a handful of deaths, at least, to the J10. Its unfortunate but I just generally avoid being on USMC on Wake if I can. It just isn't a fair fight--its a fact. i dont base rape, i absolutely despise it. even if it is allowed in the server rules, i would much rather just let them come to me, it's a challege.... however, i believe that aa guns that are active on uncap bases are fair targets.... if you are crazy enough to hop in one for whatever reason at an uncap main and the rules on the server state there is no uncap raping, then go for it... i have been kicked from a server or two for this very thing though, so watch out. i think it is kinda silly though, they can get on their aa guns, especially the mec one on oman, and hit half the map, and not be touched? no.... aa is fair game is say if you are in a jet, no matter where it is at....

I am by no means good at AA, but after not being able to leave the Essex due to cheap a$$ baserapers I jumped into the AA and proceeded to down 6 J10's and 2 transports. I died twice during this venture. Moral of this story is IT CAN BE DONE. Even if you don't get a lock fire the cannon. Shortly thereafter they quit flying over the Essex.
How do you avoid baserape ? through teamplay, if you're not a teamplayer therfore you will use term baserape to get some attention. It is a very noobish term because if you really don't like jets bombing your carrier I suggest you do something, ex: Take a squad to their airfield and get a few tanks there
Sure take a squad. Why didn't I think of that? Oh I did and got shot down in th BH 2x and blown out of the water in a boat 3x. It only helps if the people flying the F35 do something to help your team, for example distracting the J10, rather than flying off into the blue sky never to be seen again.

No, since the F35 is practically useless, have a noob take the plane and be cannon fodder while the rest of us get off the ship. Or, as I did, be brave and man the AA. If the J10 is busy with you, hopefully, someone else will take the opportunity to get off the ship.

No, i wouldnt say its base rape, as long as you dont shoot the deck, only the gun. the whole point of the essex gun is to prevent the raping of the carrier. Destroying it....i would say no, not base rape...but be careful, admins might say yes.
