That is some messy code. Why do you need so much just to do the question you were assigned? What's with all the screen output?

Looks like data entry. Can't you just convert an excel document to javascript and embed it in whatever website he wants? (e: well, to be honest, excel can be just as much of a pain in the ass)

@tazz, just nest some more if statements inside of the if statements you already have that checks for what vehicle type they entered.  or, you could save yourself some time and check what vehicle they have at the beginning of nDetermineCategory().  if you coded that entire program yourself so far, you should easily be able to check for vehicle type.  if you have some sort of syntax error or specific thing you need help with, just post again.

just remember to put your code in www.pastebin.com because its annoying as hell to read without indentation and etc.

to a brief point yes, especially if its just stuff you do in a classroom. Beyond the basics they are poles apart.
