The first 1:18 was actually pretty damn decent. The rest wasn't, I couldn't tell if it was meant to be shit or whether it was actually shit. Hopefully the former.

Almost looked like it was starting serious, then became a thousand kinds of silly (yeah, I know it's on purpose) and instantly recognizable as fake (and more of the same, even if it was real). What would be interesting is if that particular E.T. species had actually arrived to defend Earth against other alien aggressors.
In all honesty though, I hope E.T. is never touched again until Spielberg is no longer able to make movies.

Like Tron, I think a sequel is pretty much inevitable. I just hope it isn't turned into Indiana Jones 4.
