Last night, I played BF2 no problem. Nothing was wrong.
Today, I go in BF2, the screen goes black and the game crashes.

When I click the game, it goes black, then it turns off.
There is no loading of any kind.
I have an ATI RADEON 9600, which is good enough to play the game.

define turns off???
if you mean your machine this could be caused by overheats, to many programs running in the background. etc etc
i would suggest doing eg start-->run-->dxdiag and run the test on 3d.

No, the actually machine does not turn off, but the game does.
Two possible solutions
1) Keep trying. Just try repeatedly and see if that helps
2) Restart your computer and try again
Would you be so kind as to say what kind of power supply you have?
How long have you played the game, have you experienced this before? Have you installed anything new in the computer? (Both Software and Hardware) ?
With this lovely game it may be endless possibilities, but we'll try to help as best we can!

do you have daemon tools running? because i had an issue with BF2 where the game would only run once after each time i restart my computer. not that i have "those" kinda games anyway *huge cough*
No daemon tools, and I've played this game for a while (I'm a first sergeant.)
I'll try restarting now, to see if it'll work.
