Very awesome is the answer. I just unlocked this (after wasting some unlocks) and damn, I love playing support now. For some reason the original support weapons were strange. Even though the stats say that the SAW is more acurate than the basic support weapon of MEC it always seemed less acurate to me.
The SAW has some crazily high rate of fire so you get lots of added deviation per shot, which is why it seems less accurate than the rpk-74. If you like the PKM now you would have loved it pre 1.22, that's how I got my 34 kill streak. Now I prefer the rpk-74, the higher rate of fire means that you stand a better chance at short range.

the saw is accurate but after the first shot or two it gets bad.... i do enjoy the MG36 and PKM, each has its own use
I've actually never used either the SAW or the RPK until today.........and I actually think I may like them both more than the PKM. I'll have to wait and see. I do know that I owned a Cobra with the RPK......so that was nice. Yeah, it was smoking.......but who cares........I got the kills.

The SAW is actually pretty good. Just don't hold the trigger down for a long period of time. The PKM is way too accurate even after 1.22.
Secret To The SAW.... When Close To An Enemy. Shoot In ALL Directions. Basically Move Your Mouse Around Like Crazy, This Way, All The Widely Scattered Bullets, Fly In To The Enemy. Now The RPK, Thats Just Always Been A Good Weapon.

The PKM was only nerfed because the unbalanced the thing in the first place. The support weapons were fine pre-1.2... Though they are more fun to use now...Wampa wrote:

RPK...the rate of fire..but the PKM 3 shots in general area is usually a kill.

I prefer the MG36, but yesterday on Surge I killed 10 people in a row from the top of the Control Tower (looking down on the ground where the rocket is). As long as you keep it in real short burts it still has it's sniping abilities.
i tried the mg36 once but reverted to pkm straight away because i coudnt snipe at all with it the accuracy is dodgy, however with the pkm u can beat snipers at their own game
PKM isnt as accurate anymore, which is a pain in the ass, as i got the unlock about a week or so before the new patch oh well
I think the PKM is an awesome gun if you need to catch up a few kills to make up for a bad first half of a round. I remember the PKM was so accurate during 1.2 that I just didn't use it anymore, felt way to guilty using it. The only thing it was missing back in 1.2 was a scope, ghillie suit, and claymore for yourself.
PKM is the, i mean, THE best for medium-long range supressive fire.
other than that, the close range bullet spread of the RPK/T95/SAW pretty much kicks ass. they have all been good to me in clearing alleyways
