Hi,

Well, I managed to get some cash saved up for some new hardware. I've got a Black Magic Intensity Pro coming in the mail as well as 2x2GBs extra ram for a total of 8GBs. I possibly want to setup RAID 0 for my computer to record at uncompressed speeds. I want to buy a matching drive to the one I already have. I also want to buy an SSD for my OS.

Q: Do I need to format the used drive before setting up RAID?
Q: Is there an alternative way to record video uncompressed?(120MBps ~)
Q: What is the best SATA 6 SSD on the market right now?
Q: If I decided not to get an SSD what are the 4kb sector hard drives right now? I've looked for them and I can't seem to find the label that identifies them.

Dont bother, SSDs can't even saturate sata 3 right now.

depending on the RAID level, it can increase performance or provide fault tolerance.

Incorrect. You're thinking about HDDs.

Raid 0 = Putting two disks together to make one big disk. In theory, doubles performance, as you can write/read to/from two drives at once instead of just one. So the OS would split a 50MB file into two 25MB files and stick one on each disk.

Raid 1 = Take two drives and mirror them. So if you had two 500GB F3s for example, you'd only have 500GB of space, but if one died, you'd still have the other, exactly the same as the first.

There's a couple more but that's the only ones I know well off the top of my head.
