Well my projector has only one digital input which is HDMI. I have to use an adaptor which is often in the way.

Ye, but I reckon most PC's use monitors without built in speakers, rendering a HDMI pretty useless if you ask me. Unless you want to use shitty monitor speakers, but if you are you probably won't need a top of the line GPU.

Or you are like me and have a HDTV connected to your PCs so your options are pretty much limited to HDMI.
