Well they probably have it just cos it sounds good, but the conspiracy theorist in me says that they did it to appeal to the hipster audience. Hipsters love things like banjos and ukeleles because really, when was the last time you saw a middle-class college-educated white kid playing either instrument (before the hipster movement)?
