Query Regarding certain criteria's on Badges or Ribbons.

Sorry to bother but, when an instruction for a badge says (lets say helicopter) says 5 kills IAR, I understand that that means I must kill 5 people from the helicopter but when it says 10min in helicopter IAR, does this mean 10 minutes without exiting/dieing or 10 minutes spent total say 5mins at the start and 5 mins at the end?

example fly 8 min get killed fly 2 more....

Though it does say on the page somewhere, IAR stands for In A single Round
