Well done. First Serge is a cool rank to get - I know many people who didn't have all the badges at the right time so they have the less pretty rank insignia.
I'm sitting on 42k points and I thought the slog from FSgt to Master Gunney was going to be long and tough, like you. And it is. Sorry if that's a downer for you. Anyway, these are the things I've tried to get in the mean time:
All ribbons (except for WCR and EU ribbon). Tick (just recently got the helicopter and crew service ones).
DSM. No tick - commander time is tough to find.
All veteran class combat badges. Tick.
Some expert class combat badges. No tick (need about 2 hours for the first one).
Some medals (not counting the stars). No tick (purple heart doesn't count, they changed the req's for US/MEC/PLA service so I don't count those either.. but you might?)
So.. there's lots of stuff to keep you occupied. Do the medals/badges/ribbons. Learn to fly - that's a good one, though you'll need a decent joystick but flying gets you loads of kill points and kill damage assists.

Seriously, it can be done. You have to be aggressive with claymores. I got 36 in a round once with just claymores. I also had 4 or 5 kills with the sniper rifle and 1 pistol kill. I would have gotten Expert Sniper had I had the 100+ hours required. I know it can be done. You just have to have help with resupply of explosives, a medic may be needed, and a bunch of dumb enemy soldiers who keep running into them.
I've been working mostly on my Expert Engineer badges. Just can't 44 guys dumb enough to die by my tank. I've gotten 30 - 32 in the tank. Maybe I should put out a few AT Mines as well. That might help.

i've decided that i'm gonna plug the joystick in and get owned a bit in the air..
(should piss off a few jetwhores and it'll increase my aviator time lol)
also i'm gonna get all my map win ratios above 1..
and above 100 best round scores on all maps
i reckon.. if i get the sniping out the way just now.. then i can get the experts for that.. then go something point-whorey like medic or support..with the MG36.. i dont like stigma the PKM gets so i dont use it.. i'd rather be known for owning someone with something they aint gonna whine about.. but then again.. theres always a few that whine about anything
also gonna aim for my Distinguished Service and Good Conduct medals..
i'm quite close to the latter.. and i enjoy commanding.. so the DSM shouldn't be too bad for me to get (just another 60 odd commander hours to go )

Getting my Good Conduct Medals(2) was tough. I can get 27 - 30 kills a round easily enough. It was the no team kills, team damage, vehcile damage that kept stopping me. Finally I got both (500+ hours) in a warlord map, tank whoring at that. It was so nice to finally get one, I was shocked when I got the second one right after the first. I then promptly teamkilled someone. lmao.
I'm working on the Distinguished Service Medal, 15 more hours of command time or something like that.

Ah man I made first sergeant a little while ago and its so daunting to think that you have to get all the points youve got so far, AGAIN, and then another 10k after that! its crazy. But I'm back at uni now so I can't even play anyway, I f could though I'd def jsut work at getting vet badges, and the medals that arent toooooo far away. I bet if Jack Bauer got to first sergeant he'd just interrogate EA/DICE until they gave him promottion, screw the whole get another 30k malarky
Every time i got a new rank, i kept telling myself "That wasn't so bad. Maybe it'll be easier to get the next one?" After Sgt. Major, its pretty easy to make 2nd Lt. and 1st Lt. After Captian, its a whole new ballgame (after major to Lt. Col of course).
