I used to do it all the time, the first time I played operation Clean Sweep I took the boat out and just looked at the scenery for the largest part of the round I still do it on maps like Kubra Dam sometimes, there's a very nice patch of green on the mountains between intake and the US airfield that overlooks the river, it always makes me stop and look. Or when i'm freefalling from a blackhawk 500 feet up on wake

Does anyone else do this too?

YES I DO!
And that's a valid point. The scenery is excellent! My favourite map at the moment happens to be FuShe Pass, because it has excellend scenery. I like starting at the river on the USMC base and taking a RIB and just cruise down the river, enjoying the weeping willows as they drape into the water.
I then later abandon my craft and choose a shady field to lie down in, rifle propped up as I wait for a target to come along. If nothing happens, oh well, I can enjoy the helicopters buzzing overhead and the screams of those less fortunate then me.
It's this reason that I get a decent k:d ratio on those maps. I just relax, hide somewhere and wait for targets to come along. Brilliant!

its true, one thing that makes this game great is the scenery and the looks of it. i always look at maps now and think how hard and how long it would'v taken to make stuff like that in the editor, but i still wonder at its shear brilliance

I find there's no need for me to stop - there's plenty of chances to admire the view when I'm dead.

I love it to fly upsidedown over the ground very close to it and then use POV (i use joy to key for free look with pov) to look "up" but cause im upsidedown i look more down, and the ground just speeds away under me.

Heh you should just set your video settings to high and start an offline server on Kubra Dam, just to see what it's really like

I'm a map maker so I do look at scenery a lot. And I myself think FuShe is the best looking map.
Ever noticed that the most detailed maps are Chinese? Dalian is kind of random though.

Well unfortunatley and sadly to say I have. I do it ALL the time on Night Maps..Especially when you throw a flash grenade and the last 2 seconds you can see the beautiful color. The night maps are so well setup that its a shame they didn't make a part 1 (where its nights only) and a part 2 (daytime). Night Flight would blow away Karkand in a hearbeat thats how good that map is set up. Leviathan is also a very beautiful map. I like the Smokescreen scenery but the gameplay sucks...weird. Dragon Valley is just a great scenery. SHarqi actually isn't all that bad.

I think Daqing Oilfields is a very beautiful map, and once I had to stop and enjoy the scenery east of the PLA air strip. I also like the heavy sky on that map.

That's one reason I prefer the battlefield games (also bf1942) before UT, Quake etc: the feeling of being outdoors .
