how does one do that?
cheap ammo
If I remember correctly the kabooms above were caused by:
AR-15: Reloaded ammo (wrong powder type or charge - using pistol powder in a rifle load)
Shotgun: Squib load, which is when the bullet (shotgun slug in this case) doesn't have enough force to leave the barrel or gets stuck in the barrel. When followed up by another round there is usually a catastrophic failure.
Usually one can feel a squib load in the form of less recoil or sound. It will often cause a malfunction in semi or full autos. However, that's not always the case.
Most kabooms are the result of bad reloads. Reloaders need to be really careful when reloading.
Double charge, wrong amount of powder or incorrect powder are pretty common causes of kabooms. I've chosen components that make it more difficult for me to have a double charge (twice the powder). The powders I use feel up the majority of the case, so if I accidentally try to add powder again it will spill out of the case and be very obvious. When placing the bullet into the mouth of the case, before seating it (pushing it into the case), I look into the case and see the powder. It's pretty obvious when you have too little or too much powder. You learn what looks right and what doesn't for each 'formula' you reload.
Not enough powder, incorrect powder or wrong ammunition are pretty common causes of squib loads. As mentioned above I make it a habit of peaking into each case before inserting the bullet to avoid squib loads. This is to make sure the powder is present and at the correct amount.
Incorrect or bad primers can also be an issue.

I pick very carefully who I'm prepared to teach how to reload, its easy enough to set up your powder scales incorrectly for a start...
Fuck Israel
as WPA said, nearly all kabooms are the result of reloaders fucking up. I guess that's why I wouldn't shoot another person's reloads if they were free.menzo wrote:

The buckmaster series is pretty damned good for the price range, probably the best in the price range, except for one problem; they're still using moa turrets with mil-dot reticles. If they offered 1/10 mil turrets they'd have the best product in the $300 market. I know it's not a deal breaker for a lot of shooters, I guess I'm just spoiled now.rdx-fx wrote:
Lower end Nikon runs $250 - $300 as well, and they're okay for an inexpensive scope too.

Taking a safety course tomorrow, hopefully will have a pistol permit within the next couple weeks.
Hopefully going to register my dads pistol, it looks like a Walther but it might be an HK4. I don't remember He showed it to me once, but I can't remember what it looks like. Shoots .380 but it has a conversion kit with it.

If the women don't find ya handsome. They should at least find ya handy.
Thankfully the noob who wanted to borrow my revolver for a Police match has found another.
Fuck Israel
Just signed my 10 day wait papers for a S&W M&P 15-22.
Back from the safety course, was at S&W all day from 7:45-5:30. Shot a S&W 617 and a Model 41. Both 22LR, fun as hell. Can't wait to get my actual license and fire up that HK4 my dad has.
This new hobby is going to replace video games for sure.
Also, MA gun laws are fucking tighter than a nuns pussy.

Relatively my state has some of the strictest laws in the country, outside of like New York and New Jersey. Possession of just a magazine that holds 10+ rounds is a 10 year prison sentence. Don't even need to own a gun, just gotta have the magazine that has a stamped date saying it was made after 1994.Kampframmer wrote:

spent the last four hours cleaning five years worth of fouling out of a friend's 91/30. for some reason it wasn't shooting like it used to. I pulled the barreled action out of the stock and and looked down the pipe. It was a smoothbore musket. The first dozen sweet's soaked patched came out a dark navy blue color along with chunks of stuff, then it started getting a little better. 300 patched and a worn out nylon brush later and there's rifling again. I still can't get a completely clean patch through it but it's clean enough now. Mosin Nagants will take an amazing beating.
i enjoy the challenge so it doesn't really feel like work to me. I sorta go into a meditative state, or I'm just getting high on solvents. maybe it'll shoot better with rifling and tight action screws.

Why are you posting in this thread? It's for people who have a general interest in firearms, not for people who can't own/bash them.Kampframmer wrote:

Discussing gun laws would fall under firearms interest imo
FREE SUPPRESSOR/SILENCER TAX STAMP FROM GEMTECH:
Purchase a Trek-T 5.56mm silencer between now and the end of April and Gemtech will pay the $200 tax stamp.

Purchase a Trek-T 5.56mm silencer between now and the end of April and Gemtech will pay the $200 tax stamp.
http://www.gem-tech.com/blog/
1. Purchase a GEMTECH TREK-T suppressor, one of the coolest, premium, featherweight, high-speed /low drag, high-grade titanium, compact 5.56mm silencers from your favorite FFL/SOT dealer between April 18 and May 1st and GEMTECH will pay your $200 NFA Transfer tax for you!
2. With your dealer’s assistance, complete your Form 4 with local CLEO or Trust/Corp data, etc., Fingerprint Cards, Certificate of Compliance, etc. Get everything all done and ready to go to BATF… except that nasty $200 dollar check made out to the Feds. Don’t worry about that during GEMTAX time – This one’s on us.
3. Instead of sending it to BATFE, send your completed Form 4 package to GEMTECH along with a copy of your dated sales receipt for your TREK-T suppressor. (We strongly and politely suggest you send your submission in a trackable manner, so a.) it gets here, and b.) you don’t have to call us on the half-hour for the next two weeks, asking “Umm… Hey, sorry to bug you, but I’m just checking if you got my envelope yet?” From there,
4. WE PAY YOUR TAX!!!
for you and send it in to the BATFE NFA Branch. We’re so friggin’ squared away, we’ll also even send you notification via email or USPS as to the date it was sent in to BATFE for processing. (If you don’t want to be notified because you have relationship/financial/trust issues with your significant other, we’re your wingman that will help you keep it on the downlow –– but you gotta make a note for us not to send the notification.) From there, it’s up to the always friendly and efficient NFA Instrument Examiners to take it from that point. (Hi, Chris! Tell Ted and the other examiners there we said they could drop their normal workloads and just focus on helping you out with processing these for our cool customers, m’kay?) NFA Branch will approve the form in their usual, timely manner, provided you’re not the town bad guy, didn’t do something wrong in completing your forms, etc.
5. After what seems like forever, but really isn’t that long in the grand scheme of things, the BATFE will send the approved transfer to your dealer with a pretty blue $200 dollar tax stamp glued in the upper right hand corner –– which will always be a cheery reminder of that special time of year when GEMTECH paid your tax for you.
