I consider myself to be reasonably intelligent when it comes to making decisions on the battlefield. I try not to run under friendly tanks, and I don't punish them when I do. I throw medpacks at people when they need them. I try and kill enemies before reviving someone. However, on occasion I will revive people into dangerous situations, either because I cannot do anything about the danger and I think they can, or because having as many people alive as possible is generally a good thing.

Yesterday, while I was playing Songhua Stalemate, I was part of a large infantry push into north island. I happened to revive my squadmate while an APC was laying waste to everyone around us. Immediately after dying again he screamed something to the effect of "stop fucking reviving me you fucking medics FUUUUUCK!!!1" over the microphone. Come on. What is the downside to being revived and dying? You don't get a death on your record (until you actually die), and you might be able to help. I managed to avoid being shot by the APC, perhaps if he had been a little quicker on the uptake he would have moved and not died again. This is not the only time Ive had this experience. A while back on Sharqi I revived a colonel into a firefight (after teamkilling him because he thought it would be a good idea to walk in front of my gun), after which we both died. Was it a good move? Perhaps not, but it could have also saved us both.

This has gotten longer than I intended, but I think I got my point across. Being revived doesn't hurt you. If you pay attention and get moving as soon as you hear the zap you stand a very good chance of surviving even the worst revives. The medic is your friend, so don't give him a hard time for doing his job.

So its safe to play medic again ?

Think their rep have been unjustly low lately. Have actually been TK`d after reving people in the heat of battle with an abusive remark as an sidenote.

the downside is when you are revived you have to wait a whole nother 15 seconds.... and you dont get to spawn in a more strategically placed spot. i vote for a DNR button.

Since I started a new account called ShockPaddies I've been 'inappropriately reviving' people all the time (because I don't use any guns on the account.) So far I haven't had anyone complain about being revived into a firefight, and most of the time I find it helps us actually win the fight since the enemies suddenly have multiple targets to shoot at. Typically either the person I just revived will shoot the guy who just downed him, or he will end up being a nice distraction so I can run up and shock paddle the enemy. Works wonders!

I always want to be revived. On big maps with many players the battlefield is pretty chaotic and it's usually not that hard to get away. When you die you can prepare yourself for a revive, you know exactly where the enemy is and where you can find protection. You'll hear the clear message and see the medic so you know exactly when it's time to run. It's often several teammates engaged in firefights with several enemies so they are kept busy enough.

Its one thing to be revived when you have an 'anti-infantry' kit and you get revived into a firefight with infantry.

Its another to have an 'anti-infantry' kit, to be revived time and time again in front of a tank or APC without being able to move once you've respawned. Dont forget, those tank/APC rounds have splash damage..

@tF-voodoochild: On your account "ShockPaddies" you've used grenades and knives, not just paddles.

Anyways, I think medics are the most valuable players on the battlefield. Not only can they properly defeat the enemy, but they provide healing and reviving. There's nothing worse than getting killed in battle and then having to hoof it back to the battle from the spawn. And isn't it just the greatest feeling getting your health back up to 100% after ninnying around, trying to avoid getting your last bar taken away? There are, however, many people who are medics simply for their own reasons. They'll camp in some obscure spot and only heal themselves, even though there may be 20 teammates laying dead in need of revival 3 steps away. If you're a medic, don't do that! It's annoying, But, basically, what I'm trying to say is, be nice to medics, they're friendly and out there for you!

I play medic a fair bit aswell as engineer and assault

As medic If theres a tank there i hide
then if The APC or Tank leaves and the poor fellow is still laying there then i will revive him.

The reason he was getting sh1tty was because he was probably going to respawn at a different flag as Anti Tank or somthing like that

dont worry, just keep plugging away at it.
and if sombody gets agro dont think about the anger. Think about the 2 points you got for it

I hate getting revived when there's armor around that I can't do shit about.  Those are valuable seconds during which I could have respawned as AT and gotten a few shots in with eryx/SRAW.  In most other situations, I'm all about getting revived.  Saves you a lot of walking, saves your team tickets, and helps squads take CP's more effectively.  I usually only revive people if I'm confident that they will survive.  There are exceptions, of course, but I very very rarely revive people when I know that they will die again right away.  It's frustrating to keep getting revived when you can't do shit and you just want to respawn.
EDIT:
I really, REALLY hate people who fall into these two categories:
1) Player is Medic
Player does not revive you when you die.  Player will not throw down health bags when you request a medic.
2) Player is wounded
Player will not pick up medic bags you throw to them, and instead, will run into enemy fire and die.

I think support players are usually worse in this respect... I get REALLY frustrated when I have to CHASE a friendly support to the middle of nowhere screaming "Requesting ammo, over."  If we're not under fire, it's really not a big deal to drop me some ammo.  Do you not want extra points for yourself?

I don't really care if the dude is screaming for a medic yet running full pelt away from me, i'll just revive him when he dies or something. More points for me.

But in intense firefights i pick my targets carefully. I revive friends I know who can fight, I revive an anti tanker even if a tank is bearing down on us to see if he can get that one additional shot off, I revive engys and spec ops to see if they can do any damage to enemy armor. But most importantly, I judge revive situations by whether I (Me, MYSELF and I) will be at risk of dying. No point jumping in for the revive and getting BOTH killed.

i've gotten very frustrated with medics reviving me when they shouldn't. there was a round on karkand where an APC was camping a certain spot. he suprised me as a sniper and killed me. for about 3 minutes i was constantly being revived by random medics and getting killed as soon as i was revived. the medics were getting worked too but one would always come over and revive me and the person that revived me before. all i wanted to do was spawn AT/Spec Ops to take out the APC -- but i couldn't. for the most part i'm happy to be revived but not in all situations like when i want to spawn elsewhere and switch kits.

anytime i see a medic run for a revive, i'll just toss a nade next to the body and get an extra 2 kills with little to no work.

Don't revive people that will just die in a few seconds, they have to wait another 15 seconds to play. You ruin the game for so many people.

Does anyone think that you should only get 1 combat and 1 team point for reviving?  That is why medics revive guys even when they know they will be killed right after the guy is revived.  It is worth more than a kill, so if you are going to die anyways why not score some points while you are at it?  You will get four points and a lower kill to death ratio, which you can make up since the G36E is a beast, compared to a possible 2 points for a kill.  Lowering the points will get rid for medics who run around with just the defibs out and diving on every dead teammate in their vicinity.

i've had this problem, like the situation you gave, ppl want to die, wait their 15 seconds, respawn somewhere else with the proper kit and get points and for sure they dont want to be your revive/easy point bitch.

If you have problems with being re-revived and dieing instantly try useing the "suicide" option when your dead, dont know if you lose the 2 points like when you suicide when your alive but i do know it makes you unrevivable. Ive never used this option because i always run asoon as i get revied and if anyone dies its usally the medic reviving me 80% time... and if its safe ill turn round and revive him back.

unless the turret of an armor is faceing you or someone has already thrown a grenade at the body, you will always have enough time to stand up and start moving, if this is the case your harder to it and should be able to make it to cover before you die (city maps only).

usually the armor is taking aim as im being revived, and its pretty damn hard to hit the suicide button when the screens keep switching between revives/ i'd rather have the death in such a senario then a suicide and minus 2 points
